Crack! The sound of my bat hitting the ball echoed throughout the stadium. Dust went flying everywhere as I took off running towards first base. I dropped my head, concentrating only on putting one foot in front of the other as fast as I possibly could. Everything else seemed like a blur to me. I rounded first base, praying for my feet to move faster. Dust stung my eyes, but I couldn’t stop now.
The only words I heard from my coach were, “Run! Run! Run!” My lungs burned, but again, I couldn't stop now. I looked up to see the runner in front of me, noticing that she was only a few feet ahead. “Please move faster,” I silently begged, hoping that in some way she could hear my thoughts. Glancing past her, I saw the crowd for a split second. I noticed

I looked up one last time to see my teammate stepping onto home plate. This was it, I was almost there. I pushed myself forward, causing my lungs to burn even more. I had the feeling of forgetting how to breathe, and every muscle in my body ached. I felt like stopping to catch my breath and rest, but I couldn’t. I was so close to reaching my goal, so close to having my dream come true, one more step and it would be all over.
Home plate was only a few strides ahead of me, and I realized that this was it. I slammed my foot onto the plate, thinking to myself that I made it. Suddenly everything around me was loud. My hearing finally returned and I could hear the crowd cheering for me. I ran to the fence and found myself searching for his face. There Andrew sat on the bleachers, smiling at me and clapping his hands.. “I told you I would do it,” I hollered at him, which caused his head to be thrown back in laughter. I smiled proudly and turned my back towards the fence, seeing my teammates make their way onto the field, screaming and hollering my name. Everyone there couldn’t stop cheering and clapping in honor of me, and honestly, it was the best feeling in the

As I ran that hill I began to cry because of the pain. I thought my legs were going to give out from underneath me. The pain I was feeling helped me take a few strides that caused me to stumble a little, but soon regained my composure. I was at the top. All that was left was one last final turn, and then the downhill. I could see the finish line in the distance and then started sprinting. Coach Rojas was screaming at me to keep going and not to stop. At this point, my heart was pounding rapidly. My body was worn down, hot and exhausted. Crossing the finish line was the only thing on my mind. For a moment, I blocked off from the race and thought about all the hard work that went into the season. I crossed the finish line and at that moment I knew that I had put my sweat and tears into this race. I couldn’t feel my legs, all I wanted was water. Soon after I heard that we won Second place in the district which was the best the team has won. I felt no pain at this point since I was part of a group of people who loved this sport and put effort into it. It gave me happiness to be part of a team that now was like my…

The team we were up against was the fierce, very talented number 2 in the state, the Rattlers. Recruiting players from all over the country to play on one team, they were a powerhouse no doubt. Josh back in the lineup after sitting out that last game and the hour break we had, he was all fueled up and ready to go. First inning comes up and they bat first putting up a enormous number of runs counting up to 10 in the first. We came back with a 2 run inning. shut them down in the second, and came back another 3 run inning cutting their lead in half. Slowly gaining momentum we knew what we came here to dude and that was to win this championship. Third inning rolls around and we shut them down for the second consecutive inning. We come to bat, three walks in a row and im due up with the bases loaded. Pitcher throwing close to 92 mph, look almost impossible to hit. first pitches goes by and my eyes widened that was the fastest thing i've ever seen right down the pipe for strike one. Next pitch same result. Third pitch i knew it was coming, i reached back threw my bat at the ball and hit a GRAND SLAM! Putting out team down just 1 run with 3 innings to…

When I stood at the bottom I did not think I could make it. half way up, I knew that I could not make it. Now, standing at the top, I look behind me at the amazing challenge that I have just conquered. Not only is the hill at Eau Claire an infamous feat that every student must traverse, but it is also a metaphor for every hardship that has entered into my life. One hardship I have faced, was my sports injuries during high school. My junior year track season started off being the best experience i’ve had. Unfortunately, this time was cut short. I ripped a ligament in my leg ending my entire spring season. I was angry at the world asking, “why me”. However, I knew I still had a team depending on me. Day in, and day out, I would show up to practice…

I felt like I had never run this fast, ever in my life. The pain was filling my legs; it felt like it was going to break them but all I wanted to was to slow down. However, nothing was going to slow me down no matter what happened. I could feel my hair flying behind me everywhere. My knees driving high up, and my feet moved fast across the track. I kept speeding up more and more, even though my entire body felt like falling apart. My entire chest was aching in pain, and it seemed like I could not even feel my legs. I was at the point of crying with pain, but I sped up even more because I knew this was only going to last for few more seconds. The finish line was only a few feet away, and I was pushing myself so hard, I felt like I was going to fall. With only one step, there was a moment where I was falling, but took the step and plunged myself for an end. I had felt like I had finally reached my goal for once in my life. Even though every part of my body was aching, I felt so much happier with myself than I had ever felt before. I looked around and felt content with…

It was a scorching hot October day in Palatine, Illinois. As my team and I warmed up for our cross country race we could feel the sun fry us. The Palatine Meet of Champions is always a competitive meet and this was the last time I would toe the line there. I was nervous. Thoughts started rushing through my head and I tried to stay calm. As the day went on, it was time to go to the line and start the race. Right before the gun went off;, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I visualized success. The gun went off and I bolted for the bottleneck. As we came to the last mile, I was in great position. I started making my way to the front and I felt like I was flying. Although I did not win, I placed fifth against many nationally ranked runners. I felt like I was on top of the world. At that moment I knew I wanted to pursue the dream of running collegiately. Later that week, I received a call from Coach Chorny from Miami University telling me that he would like me to run as a RedHawk. I was hooked after my official visit and later that month, I signed my letter of intent. My journey was set to continue.…

I had just finished my freshman year of high school, now playing on my school’s summer baseball team. It was a perfect summer night on the baseball field; playing against one of the teams I disliked the most, Ava. It was always a close game playing them; they had good players who always played hard. Going into the 7th inning the game was tied, three to three. I came up to the plate wanting to help my team win the game. As the pitch came in my eyes lit up, it was a fastball right down the middle. I swung and hit the ball into left field.…
