Personal Narrative: Football Quarterbacks
I was always afraid to play the position of quarterback on the football team. I am good at blocking and catching the ball, but when it comes to throwing the ball I get nervous.

One day my coach pulled me to the side and told me I was going to be the quarterback for the game. I thought I was going to die! I never played quarterback so I was very nervous about messing up. I instantly became sick and thought about leaving the game. My mom was on the sideline, so I went over to her and told her about me being afraid to throw the ball. My mom grabbed me by the shoulders and told me to fight my fear, and focus on being the best quarterback the team ever saw. I turned around, got in the game, they passed me the ball, and I threw the ball directly

The bell ringed and we all went our separate ways to class my first class was history with one of my all time favorite teachers and football coach. I got to classes he told us we will just be relaxing today and put on a movie about world war 2 of course in true Jordan fashion I put up my backpack and took a nap. After a 25 minute nap, the bell ringed I went to my next classes till it was lunch time which I will go to the good old cafe and get lunch and talk about football again it was nice I feel like it was a conversation that really never ends. After lunch, I went to my final classes which were longer than usual but I think it was because I was ready to get out more than ever. When the final bell finally was rung I grab my books and ran straight for the football field. I went to my locker packed my cleats, pads, helmet, and cleats. Before I put my bag on the bus I checked the depth chart to see if my name was on the paper above everyone first I checked offense but no dice I was not starting wide receiver. I was upset but I looked at defense I saw my name at starting corner then immediately I just got ready to play the entire way through the game I just sat and looked at scout sheet to prepare myself for the game on the bus ride. Once…

My first goal was to complete a 200 pound bench press. I selected this goal because I wanted more power in football. My second goal was to do 75 consecutive push ups. I chose this goal because push ups are a great exercise to increase your bench press. My third goal was to get really cut and lower my body fat percentage. I increase cardio and changed to a healthier diet to achieve this goal. My fourth goal was to weight 150lbs. I chose this goal because having some extra weight will help me on the football field. I tried to make these goals reasonable and with a lot of hard work I was able to achieve 2 of them.…

It was my freshman year in high school, and I was extremely excited to start a new chapter in my life. Throughout middle school I was always playing sports, wether it was basketball, wrestling, or football I was playing it. A few of my friends and I decided to try out for the football team. There was four of my friends that wanted to join the team their names are Kyle, Andres, Alex, and Erik. When we got to the tryouts it was a huge difference from middle school football. There was close to 40 students trying out for this team, and three coaches whose names are Coach Cortez, Hill, and Bellecomo. The date was September 29th, and the wind was blowing furiously. It was 50 degrees outside, feeling like 30 degrees due to summer just ending. The score was tied with five seconds remaining in the game against Delavan-Darien. I fell back into my safety position, staring down the quarterback like a wolf approaching its prey. As the quarterback began his cadence, I felt something wet tickling my arms as if little monsters were crawling all over me. The quarterback yelled, “set hut!”, and the receivers began running their routes. Out of the corner of my eye, I spied the slot receiver running a drag route across the middle of the field. As he crossed the inside linebackers, the quarterback threw the ball. Right when the receiver was about to catch the ball, I ran up and make a perfectly formed tackle above the receiver's waist at his ribs, forcing the ball to fall loose. The pass was incomplete.…

Growing up with two older siblings who were heavily involved in sports, and a father who had a passion for the coaching, I got an early taste of what leadership really means. Whether it be my brother and sister leading by example on the field, or my Dad coaching teams to victories, I learned a lot about leadership from simply observing them, and I carried those lessons with me into my own sporting career. However, it wasn’t until I tore the labrum in my shoulder at the end of my sophomore football season, that I learned there was much more to leadership than the examples I had grown up surround by.…

I’ve always a very shy very quiet person to start out and I often found it very hard to speak up when with other people especially when it comes to leading them. Though, with my position as a lacrosse goalie I was always under pressure from coaches to speak out more. As a goalie, it was my responsibility to keep up communications, lead my fellow defenders and location of the ball and when to crash in for a shot. It always seemed like a task I would never be able to fully grasp. So, when I made junior varsity my freshman year one of the first things my coach had me do was learn how to holler around my mouth guard and helmet.…

My body felt right and I was on a good diet. I was working on my game all off-season. It takes a good football to want to perfect their game because most players think they are already good enough. I knew that to make it in the game of football you can never be too good. The next season I had a career high with three-hundred and forty-two yards. Also with three touchdowns. I loved playing the game but I was kind of sad because going to Oregon my parents couldn’t come too all my games. My whole life my parents came to all of my games. But since I played so far I only told them to only come to my important games and the ones close to home. When I broke my ankle my mom would call and check one me everyday my dad would just show tough love and say “suck it up.” I don’t take it the wrong way I just let it past over my head. My mom was so proud of me because of how far I have came since I was little. When I was little I lived with my mother. But as I got older I got into some trouble a lot. So my dad fought for custody and I had to move with him. I didn’t like that because my mom has always been there for me and my dad was just there. Anyways after my excellent game I got invited to the Heisman Trophy…

Everyone was watching nervously at the stands. All my teammates were eager yet nervous. I was up next and my coach calls me up to bat with two girls on first and third base. My legs were shaking as I went up to the plate. The score is eight to ten with two outs and the pressures on me. He explained to me what I had bring everyone to home plate. Ting! My bat struck the ball and it landed all the way in the outfield. All of my other teammates were cheering inside the dugout. All three of us sprinted as fast as we could to home plate. They both made it to home and I slide onto home plate. I made the home run! Everyone in the dugout came running onto the field with huge smile on their faces chanting, “We won! We won!” My coach shook my helmet and patted my back. Coach was so excited and happy for us. He was the one who made this team so successful.…
