Personal Narrative: Football Life
Football Life

The Average size of a Nfl player ranges from 5-11 to 6-4 and weight 215-295lbs. I was roughly 5-4 and 120lb when I started my football career so as you can see how I differed. I was told before I even started to play that I was to short or too small but I was determined as a person also as a player.

I started football freshman year coming off the street just playing some pickup games at a middle school. I was inexperienced with little knowledge of the sport from what I had watched and played madden. This story is not how I started but my first start as a football player. It was fourth game in our season the day started like usual I got dropped off at school by my parents after which I proceed to my group of friends. My friend

The bell ringed and we all went our separate ways to class my first class was history with one of my all time favorite teachers and football coach. I got to classes he told us we will just be relaxing today and put on a movie about world war 2 of course in true Jordan fashion I put up my backpack and took a nap. After a 25 minute nap, the bell ringed I went to my next classes till it was lunch time which I will go to the good old cafe and get lunch and talk about football again it was nice I feel like it was a conversation that really never ends. After lunch, I went to my final classes which were longer than usual but I think it was because I was ready to get out more than ever. When the final bell finally was rung I grab my books and ran straight for the football field. I went to my locker packed my cleats, pads, helmet, and cleats. Before I put my bag on the bus I checked the depth chart to see if my name was on the paper above everyone first I checked offense but no dice I was not starting wide receiver. I was upset but I looked at defense I saw my name at starting corner then immediately I just got ready to play the entire way through the game I just sat and looked at scout sheet to prepare myself for the game on the bus ride. Quite possibly the most significant time of my life was during my senior year as part of the Edison High School football team. The story of our 2006 season is a reflection of my life and testimony to my beliefs and values. Underdogs from day one, we represented not only our school, but also our community and families. Early expectations of the 2006 Eagles were low and the surrounding community was under the belief that Edison would be lucky to go 6-4 with the inexperienced players and the loss of such a talented senior class. Suddenly, I was starting as the outside linebacker/defensive end for the first time in my career along with 18 brand new starters. Unexpectedly, a green group of replacements were 5-0, half-way through our season. After…

However, I was in a package against Big Lake and I shut down receiver. The following week in practice while I was working harder than even Coach Herberg came up to me and said “I’m starting you at the corner this week. You had a good game and you deserve it. Good job kid.” We were playing Willmar and I was very nervous. It was my first varsity start. Coaches said that was normal and said for me to relax. I played extremely well and I was very proud of myself. The following three weeks I have started and became more confrontable with playing on Friday night. My focus level was as high as ever and I was improving my talent day by day. Hard work does really pay off. I worked hard and did my job throughout the year and on the field. I listened to my coaches and stayed true to myself and I sure did pay off. I’m playing varsity and had kept the promise I had with myself last…

Those words were some of the best i’d ever heard in my life. That day I met great football players but greater friends. I was actually kind of scared. Wondering if all the 5th graders would play with a 4th grade kid. All these fears increased when I saw how good they played. Catching everything that was thrown at them!…

One day my coach pulled me to the side and told me I was going to be the quarterback for the game. I thought I was going to die! I never played quarterback so I was very nervous about messing up. I instantly became sick and thought about leaving the game. My mom was on the sideline, so I went over to her and told her about me being afraid to throw the ball. My mom grabbed me by the shoulders and told me to fight my fear, and focus on being the best quarterback the team ever saw. I turned around, got in the game, they passed me the ball, and I threw the ball directly…

I was right at the 5 yard line when the girl on the other team tackle me right to the side line we a got up she patted my shoulder pads and said,” nice run dude you were close but i got you,” all of my team ran to me and were cheering so loud the other team got mad but i did not care it was a home game at the huntley high school. I realized that you should never like celebrate too early or you might not get anywhere and you should all have good sportsmanship to any and any one because you never know what will happen to the person that you did not give the respect to might do. Also it really does not matter if you win or lose what matters is that you have fun i say that because the other team were like mad sad and some were even crying because that could be their last game and disappointed in there self you can just see it in there eyes and their actions they they were kicking the turf and tackling each other because they did not make it to the playoffs i ran over there to break it up and i told them it does not matter if you win or lose what matters is that you have fun and they said,” yay that's what it's really about thanks,’’ and i ran back to my team and i broke us…

It was the day that most freshmen dread, cuts day. There were many of us trying out for the JV baseball team- more people than there were positions. I could see it, I would be starting catcher on the JV baseball team. I had made it passed the first two weeks of tryouts and I was so confident that I was going to make it. That was, until on that last day of tryouts when the two coaches pulled me out of a drill and told me they wanted to talk to me.…

My freshmen year was the only season where the football team was actually really good as a team. The other years we have been ok, but nothing amazing. So as the best player on the team with a goal of playing college football, sometimes I was forced to just play for myself. This wasn’t how I wanted it to be, but I didn’t have a choice because a lot of my teammates didn’t put forth the effort required to be a successful…

When I was only 5 years old I began to play the sport of football. In my first few years of playing the sport, my father was my head coach. Before I started to play, I was always on the sideline watching my dad coach and being the team manager. My two sisters were cheerleaders for the same team I played on and my mother was the head coach for the cheer team. My very first time stepping on the field, I had goosebumps on the arms and chills going down my spine. I remember feeling like I was about to throw up but…

My mind was so focused that I didn’t even hear anything. I just reacted and got the ball. When I first got the ball the blocking looked good but in a matter of seconds two linemen broke through and tried to tackle me. I was way faster than them so I cut back the other way and ran down the sideline. When I reached about the fifty yard line I saw the safety coming at me. He dove for my legs and I quickly hurdled him. That moment caused me to think about the record because I knew I was close to beating it. There was one guy on my mine. Number twenty on the lions was the only kid in the league that was faster than me. Soon as I thought of him I heard his footsteps behind me. I knew I had to run faster so I turned on the jets and ran as fast as I could. When I reached the five yard line the clock hit zero and I dove into the end zone. I landed and I knew we were state champions. The kid who almost got me was chagrin after the play. The whole team jumped on top of…

The two years were spent worrying who was better than who, talking about each other, and never feeling like I belonged. At the end of my eighth- grade year, I tore my ACL and meniscus. Instead of being buttressed through the toughest time of my life, my teammates started a rumor that I was faking my injury because I didn’t think I’d make the freshman team. Yes, this went all around the school, and it wasn’t until I had surgery and started the long road back to even being able to walk that it was finally put to rest, I had not faked any injury.…

My freshman year of football started off like any other average freshman players on a varsity football team. At practice during each week before the game, I would play scout team quarterback which means that I would run the offense for the starting defense to pretty much beat up on us. Then on game days, I would put on all the pads and uniform, stretch and throw, then sit there and watch the entire game knowing I will not play unless we are absolutely killing a team which actually happened on more than one occasion. That is until the third game of the season when something happened that…
