Over Spring Break I left the country, I went to Los Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In Mexico everyday we went to the pool. When we were at the pool it felt amazing. The water was the perfect temperature. Sometimes before I got in the pool I would fall asleep laying out. The sun is a lot hotter there than it is here during the summer. Three nights to we went night swimming. When I went night swimming I spent most of my time in the hot tub. At night the hot tub was just the right temperature. If you got up around 7 a.m. you would most likely be able to see the beautiful whales jumping. While we were there we went out to dinner every night. On the first night we went to a place called Romeo and Juliet's. There pasta was amazing. It was soft, and buttery…

When I applied for the Quinlan Ramble to Seattle my freshman year, I had no idea of what the trip would be like. I had no expectations, and honestly as a freshman I just thought it would be a great way of spending my first Spring Break in America. However, upon meeting the people I traveled with, I knew it wouldn’t just be another school trip. We connected from the very beginning, forming a strong bond. During the trip, we were all very dedicated to get an insider perspective of the real business world. Outstanding business professionals, probably the best ones in their industries, welcomed us in such a friendly manner. I’m confident enough to say that we learned things with these professionals that we would never had the chance to learn in…

My most defining experience has been my time spent in the AMBYESE Y.E.S. I Can summer college-preparation program. This was the first time I had gone to an educational program during the summer. I learned how to be independent by taking the train from Fairfield to Stamford by myself and walking to UCONN each day. I learned many math and reading/writing skills to prepare for the SAT and for my many high school classes over the next few years. Taking classes as one of the youngest students in the program helped me develop my academic skills and my work ethic. In addition, I learned college preparation skills such as career planning, financial aid, and making a list of colleges based on reach, match, and safety so I am able to plan for the future.…

This was the last day before spring break, the kids were so excited! It was the time for the kids to get all their spring cleaning done before the break. Each student cleaned out their mailbox and folders. Kids packed up their backpacks and threw out all their trash. My mentor teacher did take about 5 minutes to read to the children before they heading back outdoors. They did do some language art work, such as their print blogs. My mentor teacher told me of the idea and how it has helped the children learn to form more complex sentences. I was able to look at the children blog form the beginning of the year and compare it to their blog they were making today. The kids really approved and was amazing to see how far they had come. I spent the…

Spring Break rolled around, same as always. My so-called friends ran off to get drunk or high or whatever it was they did down in Florida. I, like a sane person, went home and studied because I wanted an actual job instead of slinging fries for the rest of my life and getting a beer gut. Or I tried to study. You don’t skip three grades, get a 2400 on your SAT, and get into Princeton at sixteen if you’re stupid. But sitting in my old bedroom on the twin bed I’d finally outgrown, listening to the TV downstairs blare out some brainless television screamfest, and watching my thesis spectacularly fail at writing itself into the blank Word doc, I felt dumb.…

During spring break of my fourth grade year, my family and I visited our relatives in San Francisco. It had been a crisp California spring day, and we were lounging about at my aunt and uncle’s house. Their dog decided to join us, which created it a perfect photo opportunity for my mother. I really liked the dog, who was hilariously named Tubby. We did not have a dog at home, so this was my only chance to be around them. Tubby was as big as my brother was, extremely fluffy, and caused the house to smell a bit like him. At the moment the photo was taken, I had decided to play on the Wii with my brother and cousin. It was another thing we did not have in Chicago, which made it a highly anticipated part of our visit for me.…

It was just another day at work, before this lady ruined it for me. As I was turning onto west 75th street from Central Park West. When I came close to Columbus avenue there was an access a ride bus blocking the entire street, and unloading a wheelchair. There was no way for us to get out of there unless the bus moved, the street was very narrow since it was a residential block the right and the left lines were blocked by the parked cars, the cars probably belonged to the residents who lived there. Even though this wasn’t my fault that the bus is blocking the street, the red faced angry lady whom I picked up earlier from Columbus circle, she gave me her destination and told me to use this street to cross over, I knew that she was in a rush because I could tell from the way she was behaving, she had her left hand on her head and knocking her head to the doors window. Sitting on the back seat of my taxi cab she blamed it on me by saying that I should have taken a better street to cross over. I told her “miss this is the street you told me to cross”. But she did not listen to me and continued screaming. I tried to be professional and did everything to keep calm and not to get into any unnecessary arguments with her. I tried not to talk back, because if the passenger gets offended, they will write a complain to the Taxi and Limousine Commission against me which could lead to revocation of my license. I definitely don’t want my license get revoked.…
