Personal Narrative Essay - Vacation in Rome

Good Essays
My parents try their best to make our summer family trip meaningful and educational. Last summer, we went to Rome because Rome is one of the most historical and beautiful cities. My mom thought it could also be a big help me for my history class. Our plan was to stay in Rome for five days and stay in Venice and Florence for another week. We were all very excited and our twelve hours flight went by very quick. I loved Rome so much even though I could not understand a single word in Italian. Rome had so many gorgeous buildings and artworks everywhere in the city. I could just see how artistic the ancient Romans were. We went to Colosseum, the Roman Forum, San Clemente, Palatine Hill and many places that I do not remember. One of the best part of the trip was the dinner at the traditional Italian restaurant. We had margherita pizza and pasta. They were unbelievably good. It was very cool that there were some American restaurants such as Subway and Burger King. My family was not tired at all even in the temperature over 90 degrees because we were so fascinated by the the entire city. On the last day at Rome, we visited Vatican. We did not know much about Vatican or Catholic faith but we decided to go to Vatican because we heard that there were lots of cool paintings and buildings. There were so many people on the line around the wall and it was only 8 in the morning. The whole city called Vatican was incredible. The museum and statues were magnificent. Suddenly, everyone started to gather to the center of St. Peters Square. They were all cheerfully clapping and greeting a guy. I did not know what was going on but my family just sat down with the whole crew. Some people were crying, screaming, and clapping when the guy with the white and gold gown and a very fancy wand. He started a speech in Italian. I paid little attention because it was in a language that I do not know. Few minutes later, he left. I was very confused. I could not believe what had just happened

My mom would also come along so we don't do anything stupid, or get lost. We'd all fly to Italy in our private jet, sipping orange juice because hey I'm 18! Trying to cram in as much Italian as we can, so we speak the Native language. When we probably…

to my bare feet, as the sun beat on on the blue water. The glittering sea reflected in my eyes, and a smile spread across my face. This was paradise. This was Hawaii. Whats a vacation without some adventure? Without some fun and some risk? Without going beyond your boundaries and trying something new? That’s what a vacation is meant for. On the shore at Maui Hawaii, I stood taking in the magnificent view-hypnotized by the scene, my mind was racing. There were endless possibilities of things that…

Chance ? Through out history we see cogs of repetition fall into place time after time. The fall of Rome shows a distinct pattern of Imperial collapse for every republic. Getting involved in spy work, most likely going to be caught or betrayed. People balancing fireworks on their heads... wait, we (well most of us) don't need previous incidents to determine the outcome. But there are circumstances, that however deep you submerge into history there are almost impossible circumstances of being just…

I was temporarily blinded as the light flooded in from the wooden gates. When my eyes finally adjusted, I could see the outlines of people cheering in the stands. The stands seemed to be raised above me and I realized that I was in the Colosseum of Rome. I looked directly across from me to see another door revealing a burly man holding an axe. My body quavered at the sight of him, there was no way for me to beat him, I was done for good. I peered behind me, not trying to draw too much attention, to…

According to stress.about.com, “A good vacation can help us to reconnect with ourselves, operating as a vehicle for self-discovery and helping us get back to feeling our best.” Getting away is proven to relieve stress. From personal experience, I can vouch for this fact because going on vacation helps relieve my stress. I go on vacation and sit on the beach at least once a year. I prefer going to a tropical place such as Mexico. This year I will be going to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I…

My Favorite Vacation I sat at the resort’s buffet with my mom, grandparents, and my brother, while we were relaxed and we enjoyed ourselves. I could smell the salt from the seawater of Gulf of Mexico, it was a rather odd smell, it smelt bitter, fresh, and clean all at the same time. The smell was somewhat pleasurable, and was very distinct. Every morning, in the resort, I woke up to the smell of it, which was something I definitely get used to. When my brother and I had wakened up five nights ago…

When I was twelve, my family and I went on vacation to Orlando, Florida. The main place we went to was Discovery Cove and we were going to swim with ocean creatures! I was so stoked to go swim with marine animals and couldn’t wait to feel the soft skin of a bottlenose dolphin on the palm of my hand. My mom was obsessed with dolphins two years ago. I’m not kidding. She had little dolphin statues in our living room for decorations and has a dolphin tattoo on her ankle. I was almost as excited as my…
