My parents try their best to make our summer family trip meaningful and educational. Last summer, we went to Rome because Rome is one of the most historical and beautiful cities. My mom thought it could also be a big help me for my history class. Our plan was to stay in Rome for five days and stay in Venice and Florence for another week. We were all very excited and our twelve hours flight went by very quick. I loved Rome so much even though I could not understand a single word in Italian. Rome had so many gorgeous buildings and artworks everywhere in the city. I could just see how artistic the ancient Romans were. We went to Colosseum, the Roman Forum, San Clemente, Palatine Hill and many places that I do not remember. One of the best part of the trip was the dinner at the traditional Italian restaurant. We had margherita pizza and pasta. They were unbelievably good. It was very cool that there were some American restaurants such as Subway and Burger King. My family was not tired at all even in the temperature over 90 degrees because we were so fascinated by the the entire city. On the last day at Rome, we visited Vatican. We did not know much about Vatican or Catholic faith but we decided to go to Vatican because we heard that there were lots of cool paintings and buildings. There were so many people on the line around the wall and it was only 8 in the morning. The whole city called Vatican was incredible. The museum and statues were magnificent. Suddenly, everyone started to gather to the center of St. Peters Square. They were all cheerfully clapping and greeting a guy. I did not know what was going on but my family just sat down with the whole crew. Some people were crying, screaming, and clapping when the guy with the white and gold gown and a very fancy wand. He started a speech in Italian. I paid little attention because it was in a language that I do not know. Few minutes later, he left. I was very confused. I could not believe what had just happened
