Personal Narrative Essay: The Vietnam War

I stood in the forest, blood pooling around my soaked boats. The battle was over and we’d won the battle, but struggle was so far from ending. I turned my body several times the reality of the situation hitting me. Comrades that stood firm with me against the enemy now lay empty against the crimson red. I trudged through the bamboo, not caring if I stepped on the bodies of the enemy. I couldn’t make out the difference though between the enemy and foe, as blood stained all and severed limbs lay stranded from many.
