Personal Narrative Essay: The First Vietnam War
The next morning, I was to report to Logistics and Strategy. People were all over this place. Seaman lined the walls with headsets on and screens in front of them. They used their fingers to tap the screens and then shout out coordinates. I walked down the row of officers scrutinizing interactive pixel maps. They had the ability to visualize the ships and planes in real time with holographic symbols. I passed them and walked up some steps to a clear glass room. TOO THIN, Fernando, Chad, Mallory, and five Admirals were there. One Admiral for each permanent coalition country. There were also a line of officers outside the room, waiting for orders.
“President O’Neill will be here shortly,” the US Admiral said. “Then Operation Mashber authorization process will begin.”
“Mashber, sir?” I asked.
“Permission to speak, Admiral Sanchez!” shouted Fernando.
“Sí, permission granted, Captain.”
“Mashber in Hebrew means moment of birth. In our case, redemption. During World War III, when we liberated the communist gulags and hard labor camp, many were Jewish or Christian. And they renamed the liberation period as the Mashber period.”
“Bien hecho. Well done, Captain Torrez,” Admiral Sanchez said. “We have but one last gulag to free, soldier,” he said to me.

This morning at 0700, the leaders of our permanent coalition and I signed secret executive order 5827258 authorizing Operation Mashber. This directive allocates any American, Canadian, Mexican, Japanese, and New Australian resources in coordination with monetary support from our allies in Europe. You will engage the enemy, collect and mobilize the population to a cargo ship for processing, and destroy enemy ships. TOO THIN will allocate mission priorities. God

STRAC had a mission to provide a flexible strike capability that could deploy worldwide on short notice without declaration of a national emergency or full-blown war. Because the deployment of contingency forces from the United States to the Middle East would consume nearly 80% of the Military Air Transport Service’s general war capacity, STRAC would have no part in the largest American troop deployment since the Korean War.” (Spiller, 1981) In late 1957, the Joint Chiefs of Staff began making arrangements to ensure operational readiness of the U.S. European forces to cover down for contingencies in the Middle East. The JCS had established two basic plans. The first was CINCAMBRITFOR OPLAN 1-58, codename Operation BLUEBAT that had two courses of action; one included the use of British ground forces, another the U.S. Marines in place of the British. The second plan was CINCSPECOMME 215-58. It had eight different courses of actions depending on the forces to be deployed. Ultimately, the Joint Chiefs of Staff directed…

If I have the opportunity to travel back through time. I would like to stop at the Vietnam War era. When I was young, I didn’t obtain anything my history teacher lectured. I just learned to get over with it and not comprehend any information. Not until I came to the United States and started to learn about my country's history. By that time, I was old enough to understand what this war was about and how many innocent lives have been sacrificed. This topic has attracted all my interest. I spent a day researching it. I was so emotional when I saw the photo from this war or think about it. I’m not meant to exaggerate, but I couldn’t hold my tears when I read about it. I hope for one day that I could be present in this era. To…
