Personal Narrative Essay: The Dog And The Dog
Shauna avoided Cort on Friday when she spent the day shopping with her mother. She avoided him on Saturday when the McCabe family got together to tromp through the woods in search of the perfect Christmas trees. Sunday was a different story.
"Hello, Shauna, nice to see you again," Cort said when he walked into the parlor where Shauna was expertly weaving a burgundy and gold ribbon through the branches of the twelve-foot Frasier fir Susan had chosen.
"Mr. Mackenzie," Shauna answered, keeping her attention focused on the tree and decidedly not on the man who's voice, she found, did something unexpected-and uncomfortable-to her insides.
"I thought we agreed on Cort." When Shauna didn't reply, he continued, "The tree looks fantastic."

Cort chuckled. "Good to know."
"Where did she find a deer to chase in New York

They have some wooded land. Jagger's able to run, something she can't do much of in the city. She loves it there, and now she loves it here."
"She doesn't seem to love this," Shauna said with a flick at the cone. "How much longer will she have to wear it?
"I'm hoping I'll be able to take it off tomorrow assuming she doesn't get out of it again tonight and start licking at the sore."
"She did that?" Shauna turned her attention back to the dog. "You wouldn't do that, would you? No, I'm sure it wasn't your fault. The silly cone probably just fell off and, well, what were you supposed to do? Can I take it off her for just for a minute? I'll make sure she leaves her leg
