Personal Narrative Essay On A Baseball Glove
A possession is something someone owns that they seek an immense amount of value in. Some possessions mean more to certain people depending on the circumstances surrounding it. The main thing about a possession is the meaning it holds within it. One possession that I hold dear to me is my baseball glove. I’ve had it for what will be 5 years by the time my birthday comes around. It’s nothing fancy or extraordinary, just a black Wilson A2000 left-handed glove that I still use to this day. I go out of my way to always make sure it is in the best condition possible. I change the laces on it every 6 months. I always keep a rubber band wrapped around it with a …show more content…
I was immediately drawn to the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Everything about the team fascinated me; the uniforms, the players, the stadium, and just the history surrounding the entire organization. I followed everything about the team from probably the middle of July all the way to the postseason in October. In addition to watching baseball for about 2 years, I eventually decided to take a go at it for myself. So I tried out for my school’s 8th grade team and earned a spot on the roster. Along with earning my spot on the team, I earned the respect of many people including my friends and family. I also gained a substantial amount of confidence. I felt like I could do anything I put my mind to. A couple months later I started going to the gym and working out regularly; something I still do to this day. I also started taking my nutrition

DO you have the skills it takes to play the game. CAN you hit a 98 mph fastball coming towards you or caught a line drive on a diving caught on the dime. Believe me more thought and talent is put into the game then you think. Baseball players put hours and hours of practice into the game. So practice and you won’t believe how much you’ve grown.…

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

I came from a family of really athletic people. My Mom and sister Kaitlyn both played softball from a young age and had many great accomplishments. My sister Kassidy played soccer from a young age as well. I have a lot to live up to. I started playing soccer when I four and I played for one year until I was no longer interested in it anymore. I started softball when I was five, and it wasn’t my favorite. I then retreated back to soccer for a few years. When I was in second grade, I cut my ankle on the bowl that my dog broke when I was trying to get cereal because I was hungry. After that I really didn’t want to play soccer anymore, so I decided to retire my soccer cleats forever. After this, I tried various different ranging from swim team to softball, and as you can imagine, softball stuck. When it did though, it came with my hot-headed personality showing. There was no way around it. I was also very independent, which could be a good thing in some cases, but as I got older I was required to do more group work. I just didn’t know how to.…

Hi , I’m Lilli Burton . I am in sixth grade, and play baseball with the boys. A barrier i have faced is trying to play baseball because I am a girl. Whenever I try - out , they say “ She would be great at softball.” I face the barrier in Summer and Fall when it is time for baseball. A lot of coaches are sceptical about putting me on their team, but I don’t let that stop me from trying and trying again.Until someone accepts me for who i am. To overcome this barrier , I used integrity by sticking up for my beliefs and not always caring about what people think of me . I also used determination by never giving up and try my best to get better and better everyday. My barriers are similar to Jackie Robinson’s because we both wanted to do something…

An experience that has helped to shape my life was an incident I had with a pro-baseball player during the 2012 and 2013 baseball seasons. According to my viewpoint, the conflict started after we were assigned to our respective leagues for that season. I started observing that “the player” (name that I would use to identity and protect the person’s identity) did not want to follow the strength and conditioning program as the rest of his teammates. ‘The player’s” behavior had several implications: one, “the player” could get injured since he was doing what he considered was best. Two, other players thought I had favoritism with "the player" and tried to do the same. And three, I could had lost my job if any team player got injured by not abiding to the program stipulated.…

The dispassion I had towards Baseball was taking notice by my dad. He said, “You don’t like baseball don’t you…” I sadly accepted it and I felt the response would let him down. To my surprise, my dad responded by saying, “You don’t have to play baseball if you don’t want to. You can do whatever makes you happy.” Soon after conceding to not liking baseball, I went straight back to my favorite sport, soccer. Immediately, I felt much happier attending each practice and this gave me the drive to develop as a better player. Little did I know that my dad’s advice would still motivate me to this…

Yeah people might think I’m good at baseball but nobody knows what I had to go through to get where I am today. It took me sometime to realize baseball was more than just a hobby and I'm glad I did. Without the change I wouldn't be the same athlete I am today. Today I look back on myself as the same athlete I am today even though I take baseball more seriously it's still a game it's just played differently and takes a whole lot more to continue on and play at the next level. Baseball is more than a passion, it's a…
