Personal Narrative Essay: Field Day
As Theo Rossi once said, “Scars so toughness: that you’ve been through it, and you’re still standing.” I don’t have too many scars myself but there is this one that will forever be an interesting story to share. Notably I usually avoid situations that lead to dangerous outcomes but this was completely blinding to the fact. Plus it was the last day of my 8th grade year and it was Field Day so it was only fair for me to act according to the occasion. But in this moment I was chilling with my female friends out on the football field until some boys approached us. They gave us a harangue about how they could easily demolish us in a game of tug-of-war, of course we were in disagreement so they challenged. And with us being girl and them annoying, we accepted. With intentions on actually winning, the girls team somehow came …show more content…
We were doing just as well as the boys for about two strong minute. That didn’t mean it wasn’t an arduous situation for the girls. We were struggling big time. Random people volunteeringly jumped on our side but we couldn’t hold for too long. Girls started flying everywhere, and I found myself laying face first in the dirt. I girl in front of me fell backwards laying on top of my leg with the rope still between us. It was so rough, I remember feeling it rub back and forth vehemently against my skin from the way everyone was pulling it. Boy it was so painful, and everyone was continue to play as if I wasn’t laying there being tortured. Eventually the girls completely folded and the boys pulled far enough to win. The agony was finally over for me. When I checked, it was huge, I was small then so it basically wrapped around my leg. It was pink with small segments of white coloration. I rushed to the nurses office to get it cleaned and patched up, it hurt so bad. After that it got infected a few times but I survived, and today it’s so much smaller and not as repellent as it used to

The trail continued around the east side of the lake entering a gathering of trees forming an insignificant forest along the lake’s shoreline. From our viewpoint, the trees concealing the trail eventually dispersed on the southeast side of the lake, and the trail blended into the landscape. Using our imagination, we envisioned the route against the rugged terrain sloping into the lake. No point in taking a vote now, we had trekked to the lake and the consensus was to proceed with a lap around the lake.…

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

“ Come and eat.” Joe,the leader of the trip, struggled to say because he was so tired, “Breakfast is going to be light this morning because we have along day head of us.” We all struggled to get out of our tents considering it was 5:30am and there was a mountain we had to start climbing in a half hour. All thirteen of us stood in a line like we did the morning before while we packed our lunches. The options available to us were an apple, cheese stick, peanut butter and jelly to make sandwiches, but only 2 per person, yogurt and 2 bottles of water. All of that would have to fit into a back pack with us the would be stuck to our backs for the rest of the day. “Time to load!” Joe shouted. We all got into the van that seated 16, single file until very seat was filled.…

I could play both sides of the field so it didn’t matter to me which position I played. While we were in practice I ended up getting hurt and injuring my leg. While I was making a tackle, one of my teammates stepped on the bottom half of my leg, right under my calf. I couldn’t practice for like two days due to the injury but I ended up coming back but I could still feel the effects of what had happen. Everything was all good until somebody ended up stepping on the same exact leg and this time it hurt worse than ever. I limped over to the sideline and fell on my back in pure agony. The pain was excruciating. My coaches ran over to where I was and checked on me, I told them what had happen and they just told me to get up and try to walk on it. It hurt at first but I eventually fought through it and got back on the…

The feel of 80 degree temperature, the sound of splashing water, and a super long car ride? Everything but the car ride was awesome! On my spring break this year we took a very long and boring car trip down to Arizona. It was a 18+ hour car trip just going there! I mostly slept and read the way there. First, we visited Arizona state and Arizona University. Then, we stayed at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house. But, what I mostly liked about my spring break was in Arizona there was 80-90 degree temperatures!…

As a defender I’ve learned when the perfect time to attack the ball is. The girl was running onto what we call a “through ball”. It was a fifty, fifty ball. We both came in on the ball hard and fearless. It all happened so fast. We both hit the ball at the same time, my foot on one side and hers on the other. Next thing I knew I was looking at the night sky with the bottom part of my left leg pointed out. Almost as in a “L” shape. The pain hit right away. I remember my reaction was immediately tears. All I wanted to do was try and move it, but I…

It was game day the field was rough and dry the goals were painted yellow, the burning hot sun was shining off our helmets. The team practiced so hard for this game it was the game that everyone wanted to see. It was only five bucks to get in. the coaches called all the players out on the intercom for the pre game meal, we were having some watermelon and some chicken and a potato it was very good. The chicken was the best. we started warming up when coach had called us down to the field. We had went over some offense and defense. When defense had went out on the field, we had worked on some pass blocks and some blitz plays. In my opinion pass block was my favorite. Everyone's pads was tied tight, cleats were wrapped with white tape, chin straps…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…

The first week in field was definitely a learning experience for me, but it was also one of the best times that I have had with children. At the beginning of the week I was nervous, thinking about my first time working with children, whether or not the children would like me, and where I would fit into the classroom, now though I’m relieved at how well I feel about field. The first day was amazing, as soon as I got there the student teachers involved me with the kids and before I knew it I was reading stories on the ground. I’ve been writing in my journal every day after I leave field and I write one feeling to sum up the day; so far I have written relieved, happy, and smiley. While there were times throughout the week where I could feel myself…
