Personal Narrative Essay: A Trip To America
One early dew-dropped March morning, I watched my parents watching me walk through airport security for the first time completely alone. It was odd not having parents to ask if I should take off my shoes or belt. Once I had gotten through airport security, I took my ticket and walked in silence to my gate, surrounded by fast food chains, news stores with blaring T.V.s talking about world and national news, bars, and bookstores. When I finally found my gate, I took a breath of relief, this was going to be my first time traveling without my family.
After endless hours of the smell of Cinnabon, the chatter of speaking foreign tongues, and the long flight delays, it was finally time to fly to Paris. I grabbed my small carry-on bag, and jumped

It was historic and beautiful in every way possible. It had museums, beer, and all sorts of spitting words that no one in our group could really understand. I knew I was a bit German, so I especially enjoyed seeing a country my ancestors lived in. When we were finished exploring the history and seeing the world in all different lights, it was time to go back to the little town in America, known best as Tupelo, Mississippi. We packed our suitcases and jumped on a plane to Philadelphia. This time, the plane was less crowded and it had in-flight entertainment, making it a much shorter feeling ride …show more content…
I texted Janae, and was in a state of complete and utter panic when I saw the gate I was told to go to completely empty, and it looked like a store that had closed up shop forever. I sat down at the strange gate anyway, due to the fact I could hardly stand because of exhaustion. Eventually, the gate opened back up, and our tour group got back together. I was so relieved, I slept the entire next flight. When we got to the final airport and I saw my parents, it felt like I had not seen them in years, due to how much I had learned.
"You have to tell us all about your trip!" My mom said with extreme enthusiasm, and I nodded so excited to tell them about all I had learned, about the new friends I met, and told them how I was going to take them there one day. That trip affected me greatly, making me more independent and more knowledgeable on how to take care of myself. Despite my first thoughts on traveling alone, I would do it all again in a single

I walked in holding the big bulky bags of clothing we wanted to take with us. I boarded the plane and heard the deep rich voice of the pilot announce” 12:03 takeoff time, destination, Orlando Florida”. We took off as swift as a bird and flew higher than the white puffy clouds.…

For most of the 100 or so sleepy-eyed people boarding the U.S. Airways shuttle to Boston from New York on a recent hazy Saturday morning, the 35-minute flight could not have been a bigger non-event. But that was not the case for about 20 passengers clustered nervously near the gate. Many clutched puzzle books and bags of sour candy as though they held talismans. Some made nervous jokes, others sobbed quietly. “I have pills with me just in case of an emergency,” said a teenage girl who planned to distract herself on the flight with celebrity magazines. Mariasol Flouty, a 44-year-old software developer from White Plains, held fast to her Sudoku book. “I had plane-crash nightmares,” she confessed. “I woke up very tense.” No one was more terrified than Beth Brenner, a 45-year-old mother of two teenagers from Somers, N.Y. “I was hysterical last night,” she said, “but my son said, ‘You’re going to be O.K.’ ” Ms. Brenner was crying quietly on the…

During the time that I went on the trip, life had become very stressful for me. I had gotten into the School of Architecture at the University of Houston but due to family issues I wouldn’t be able to go, I desperately needed a job, and I constantly fought with my parents, who were also fighting with each other. I couldn’t do anything on the weekends or spend time with friends or do anything of that nature at all, but so the trip…

FINALLY it was the day the day to go to California. The filet was about an hour and a half and but I was ready. Before I went to the airport I packed in a backpack a sketch book, colored pencils, an art pen, etd so I wouldn't get bored. I also brought a slinky (remember this it will be important). I got on the plane before a lot of people because I was an unaccompanied minor (people with disabilities went on first). I got on the plane and I sat with two other unaccompanied…

I went to Niagara Falls with my grandparents, about a week after I got back from Washington D.C. So on a Saturday, I packed my clothes and items I wanted to bring with on this fascinating road trip, and put them in the car. We drove up to New Buffalo beach and spent about four hours there. Then we hit the road for an eight hour drive. We stopped places along the way to Canada, but my favorite was the Thomas Edison Museum. I learned a lot about Edison's' life.…

I opened the door to enter the Orlando International Airport and my mouth dropped. It was 8 am and the airport was packed with people moving in every direction. There was nowhere to sit or rest. I could hear people yelling, cars honking, soft music playing, etc. (Sensory details) I was surprised that it was this packed, and a little irritated since the only reason I picked such an early flight back to Illinois was to avoid long lines at the airport. I could feel my palms sweat as I looked at the airport’s map to figure out where to go first. I looked at Sasha, my friend who was making sure I knew what I was doing, and waited for her to say something. As she looked around, I began to panic. I felt my heart tightened and I had to take a few deep breaths so I did not freak out. I was very nervous to navigate around this huge airport; especially since I have the worst sense of direction, and I always get lost whenever I have to go somewhere alone. After I calmed down, I knew what I had to do first. (Hyperbole)…

I walked into the airport pushing only a pink stroller with a newborn baby girl and trying not to come in the way of rushing passengers. The ambience of the airport was very impressive. The lounge was brightly lit and tastefully decorated. Huge screens displaying the arrival and departure of flights greeted my daughter and me at different spots. It was a busy time of the day. There was a large number of people with baggage in tow, some standing in line before ticket counters and some proceeding towards different numbered gates. I was surrounded with madness. Everyone was in a hurry and had a place that they needed to be. I, on the other hand, was simply standing there, in front of the departing and arriving flights screen, waiting and watching patiently to see the flight number that my husband was to be arriving on. I was overwhelmed with so many different emotions. Excitement, happiness but most importantly nervousness took over my body. Which was odd because this wasn’t a new boyfriend, this was my husband. There wasn’t any reason I should be nervous, except for the fact that my husband was fixing to meet his precious newborn daughter for the first time.…

When I was young I always dreamed of flying on a plane. Finally, my dream was coming true, and I was on my way to the USA where I had always known I would end up. This was my first trip on an airplane, and it was also one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I remember everything about my first flight, and it was a lot to remember since it took twenty-seven hours from start to finish. The fight did have one stop in Japan, but that was just to change planes. Once my parents and I got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look at everything around me. I noticed the small white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent. It was so great because the controls were right on my armrest. There was a place on the armrest to plug the headphones in in order to listen to music or watch a movie. After everyone got settled into their seats, the airhostess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures. But I am going to tell you; I couldn’t understand what they say, besides staring at their body language. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the airhostess was done with…

This was my first time flying. I can remember getting on the plane scared and excited all at the same time. The plane was filled with so many people that looked like my mother all in the same place at the same time. They all had pale smooth skin, very slanted eyes, and coal black hair some long and some short. We had now begun our journey to my mother’s home in South Korea.…

The first major experience I encountered was the fight from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) all the way across the country to the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The eight hour flight that I dreaded would begin the start of chain reaction events that would change my life forever. As it got closer to the time we would be on the long journey to our destination, the clock seemed to drag on and the airport walls only seemed interesting for the first hour I began to grow impatient. When the clock finally stroke 7 o’clock we were finally able to board the plane. We did so, as boarded the plane and found our seats began to get comfortable, because we would be stuck to our seats for quite some time. When we were clear for takeoff I swore I felt my stomach drop to the floor, the feeling of the gigantic airplane moving towards the stretching runway. I embarked on my first airplane ride that I‘d never forget…

I clearly remember that morning when I woke up at four thirty AM, when nobody in my household was half sleep. I was already hyped up and excited for my flight at ten. I couldn’t go back to sleep, thinking about my first flight and meeting my mother after 3-4 years. I was going to Bangkok with my grandparents; this was my very first time travelling out of Nepal for the first time. I finally got out of my bed got all freshen up, dressed up and did my breakfast for my big experience ahead. I was not nervous at all, usually people don’t like heights and stuffs but I always thought it was so cool and thrilling. After waiting for almost 3 hours impatiently it was time to head to the airport. After going through all the checking’s and waiting for my plane to arrive we finally got to go to our plane. I was smiling the whole time as my grand dad was explaining my mother about my experience. Settling down in my seat for like a half an hour, the plane slowly prepared to take off and after going around the runaway for fifteen more hours the plane then took off.…
