Personal Narrative: Creating Art
An ordinary object in the world can ignite my inspiration; therefore I found my process in painting is a journey of my exploration. I love to follow my heart to paint, especially love to experience how different materials can affect my paintings. I would attempt to develop various textures and apply different brushstrokes in my paintings. Painting can be an individual activity for me to explore, can also be a team player in form of art jamming; it works well for me as a team activity.

Focusing on the creative process make me feels peaceful and helps translate my feeling in art. Creating art is an aesthetic activity; it brings me great excitement and enjoyment. It is the best way of expressing my inner world, feelings, and emotions.

My sadness, anger, and confusion result from my friend who hurts me and never do I want to talk again with him. As I heard his dog Mushu passed away, I understand how painful for the lost. However, I struggled before I send a forgiving letter to him. We start again our conversation since then. I use art to present how joyful and relax after sending the forgiveness letter to him. It allows me to release my anger and pain, letting myself to move on from the past and have the courage to thrive in the future.

Refer to my portfolio #9 and #10; these two paintings represent my thought, emotions, and feelings of how exciting and happy to work as a volunteer to assist an art therapy. During in the project, I learn and understand what is art therapy and power of it. The Client would able to release their catharsis and cognitive-emotions. Also, it helps to advance their social skill, enhance their self-esteem, improve their self-awareness and personal growth after completion of the program. This experience gives me a deep conviction of using arts as the implement for healing

Many artists enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts and creating them. Most artists think of themselves in one or more of the roles when approaching their art work. First, artists believe they are helping people to see the world in new and innovative ways. Secondly, they believe they are making a visual record of places, people, and events of their time and place (Sayre, 2009). Third, they are making functional objects and buildings more pleasurable and giving them meaning, and finally, artists believe they are giving form to immaterial ideas and things (Sayre, 2009).…

I love to observe people around me and draw their portraits. For me the face of a person is an index of his or her persona and to capture it on canvass is akin to bringing out his or her soul. When I paint a person, I see the tenderness of eyes, the firmness of mouth and lines around it to get a sense and spirit of that person. It seems to me at times that I do not splash paint on my canvass but my love of my subjects get splashed on my canvass.…

Since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I have wanted to be an artist. The desire to create has grown exponentially with time, and so I attended the University of Iowa to expand my creative capabilities and learn from the work of experienced faculty and other students. Through my studies, I quickly learned a traditional fine arts education focused on technique. However, I learned the strength of my art resided in the conceptualization of my own story and emotions…

There is also a lot of suffering, crashes of motivation and it is exactly during these periods of time that I draw upon my artistic side. Through art I travel to a different dimension. I pass from a place where time is everything; swimming paces, cycling speeds, running times etc. and on to a place where time is meaningless; it either passes slowly or rapid, and it is diffenct. Sometimes after dinner I decide to sketch, and soon it turns into a painting, and eventually my mother enters to my art studio, suddenly I realize it is 3;00 a.m. and I am still painting. That is the power of art it allows you to wander. It awakens my creative side and challenges me to put in the canvas all those weird, surrealist scenes that cross my mind at night. And due to these random imaginative sparks I’ve always carry a notepad with me sketching objects, writing phrases or anything that inspires me daily which helps me expand my imagination. The canvas has become a diary for me. This passion for art has always kept my mind open to new…

This commission asks for an art piece that asks for creative work on how the human nature deals with change. The statement is broad on which events to actually focus on. This I believe leaves the artist with plenty of creative room to interpret the proposal that best fits their own style. With that in mind I choose to focus my pieces of art on the effects of traumatizing events on the mind. While my piece does focus on a stressful event I don’t want to force the viewer in to seeing it that way. The colors and images aims to have the viewer see it as a learning experiences rather than a tragic one.…

When asked in class every year which subject I admired the most, my answer was always “none”. Although the grades in my core curriculum classes were always excellent, I never found interest in the basic subjects. Math was a bunch of numbers with letters, science just reviewed our bodies and the how the world was believed to be through one scientist theories and history repeated itself, constantly. As a freshman, I contemplated tremendously over what major and career I would pursue for the rest of my life. I never knew there were more subjects than just science, English, math and history until the day my mother introduced me to unraveling my creativity in the summer.…

There have been some challenges with drawing. For one, I got what seems to be a pretty late start, only starting to really draw my freshman year of high school, and while that may seem young to some, it seems like usually, people start to draw or to make comics when they are still in middle school. So when I did draw, it always seemed like my drawings were “falling behind” the drawings other artists of my own age group had created. After I had finished drawing something, I was always so proud of it… up until I visited the internet and saw all of the drawings that were so much better.…

My love for expression has led me to much success in my everyday life. Of course that an unlimited knowledge of writing would be impressive, but to me it would mean so much more. Writing has been like a getaway from all my problems, but in a way it has also been the solution. When I write, it feels as if I was telling the story of my life. I present myself with a problem that I am facing and make up and ending to the story as the solution to my problem. My ability to write touching essays has earned me much praise from teachers throughout my educational years. Having more talent and all the rules of writing at my disposal would be like an expressionist dream come true. This power would allow me to become a writer for the world and I would…

I create art because this passion and curiosity has been with me ever since I was a toddler, running around and doodling on any surface possible. In this course I wanted to learn techniques that would help me improve my style. I wanted to broaden my creativity by creating abstract works and designing dresses that mimic Alexander McQueen’s. And also to learn new mediums to create mixed media art because I find those artworks to be unusual. This’s why I love art, because on rare occasions I discover a piece that’s unique and sparks my creativity so I can produce my own.…

My self-efficacy was extremely low the first time we climbed the rock wall. When we first climbed the rock wall, I never thought I would get over my fear of heights. Over time I found that subconsciously my self-efficacy improved. Muscle memory definitely helped my self-efficacy improve. The first time I climbed the wall it was a very awkward experience. During my first climb I was utilizing many muscles that I do not normally use. Gradually I became more comfortable on the wall, until eventually I found myself not thinking nearly as much as I had done on previous climbs. Another tool that increased my self-efficacy, was the use of goal setting. Setting goals helped me see my progress and motivated me throughout my climbs. One of my…

Art is an object or piece of work that brings one pleasure. Art is also something you see or feel and you cannot even begin to describe the ways you like it or how it makes you feel. Art is something that portrays beauty and happiness. Art lets you see the world through another person’s perspective. Most art seems to tell a story about where a person has been and the things they have encountered along the way. It lets you connect with the artist and see things through their eyes. Art is a way of expressing one’s self without words. When I think of art, I think of paintings, portraits, sketches, and sculptures. I know there are many other forms of art, but my favorite form is painting.…

Throughout my life I have pushed myself to try new things. Whether it be participating in different sports, partaking in a variety of school courses, or coming up with any sort of new activity just to keep me busy, I found myself to have created a cast, or a mold of the type of person I am and the type of things that I can always fall back on for enjoyment. My desires for experimentation may bring me temporary joys yet I always find myself stuck to a few core activities which revolve around my passion for the arts. I am able to combine this love and experiment with styles and mediums of art and while sometimes the end product belongs in the landfill, other times I may stumble upon something truly beautiful that will further my abilities to branch out and try new things.…

When I was in High school, I took Art History AP, where I studied crude sketches on cave walls to Rembrandt’s Baroque paintings to Picasso’s weird looking Modernist paintings. From that class, I witnessed art evolve from and devolve into lines on white paper. After studying cubist and modernist art that are basically lines drawn with no skill, I determined art died long ago. Things considered as art today are just a bunch of lines with colors, or a jumble of words that are lifeless. However, this interpretation is only looking through my perspective, my interpretation.…

It is crucial to my character, but because it is only shown to me, my artistic side is often omitted from my traits. Decorated with splashes of color, glitter, and ink, this mask is compacted with blissful feelings, thoughts and emotions. Although it may sound like a chaotic mess, this mask is my stress reliever. Whether taking away the frustration or letting out the pain, it leaves me in a peaceful state of mind. This mask travels along As I effortlessly glide my lightweight, ballpoint pen across the rough paper, restlessly coloring in the lines, I feel a wave of satisfaction and joy wash over me. It is when I am an artist where I feel the most passionate, optimistic, and creative. The eagerness fills up inside as I hastily color outside the lines to paint my own…
