Personal Narrative: Aunt Ali & Uncle Devy
A much needed long weekend was so good for us. Kurt was gone the last two weekends in a row and May has been so busy so it was nice to have some time together this weekend. I didn’t take enough pictures but we had such a great weekend.

Friday was spent at home cooking together and a movie night. Saturday we got up extra early to head over to Mint Hill to watch the Memorial Day parade. This was B’s first parade and she had such a fun time. I am sure it was all the candy flying at her everything three seconds. We got to see firetrucks and ambulances which were her favorite part. When we saw them she would yell “Aunt Ali & Uncle Devy” because Ali is an EMT and Devy is a fireman. She is so proud of them.

After the parade we saw Nana & Papa for

Per Reporter: “Marshall lives with his Unknown Grandmother. Marshall is intellectually disabled. On today, while out seeing my client Marshall, his grandmother became upset because after having a discussion about who should be the overseer of Marshall’s disability check. I stated to her that if she really wants to care for Marshall, it shouldn’t matter whose overseer of his check. Without warning, she suddenly jumped into her car and started backing up with force and an aggressive look on her face. I told Marshall to move to the side and I jumped in my car, backed up and left. I had to drive at high speeds to get away from her because she was chasing me in her car. I later called Marshall to check on him, he admitted that he felt as though…

I have a rather large family but my aunt Arlene is definitely my favorite relative. She’s a loud mouth 50 something year old woman whose personality is bigger then life. From her jet black shoulder length hair to her black lipliner and gold lipstick to her sweet perfume and plump physique she's definitely not hard to miss. My aunt Arlene is super outspoken and has a carefree attitude with a hint of sass which everyone enjoys about her. If you ever have a problem she's the one you would want to talk too. She's the person who will hand you the truth on a silver platter but wont crucify you for any of your faults. Although we love her for her great advice my aunt Arlene is known as a party animal and knows how to have fun and thats what I love…

If I had to choose anyone in the world to join me in a tutorial, I’d choose my Great-Aunt Karen Froming. Besides being a neuropsychologist - a career which I’m extremely interested in pursuing - she works in African countries such as Rwanda in order to help bring better mental health services to those who don’t have access to it. She also gave a neuropsychological assessment of Ted Kaczynski, the “Unabomber” as a part of his defense team. I’m doing my senior thesis on what motivates people, specifically serial killers, to kill people, and I’d love to research this topic throughout my college career. My Great-Aunt Karen’s knowledge on this subject and all things neuropsychological would be invaluable to me.…

December 19th was the day we left Detroit to head to my aunt's house in Orlando Florida for Christmas. But before we got to Florida we made a couple pit stops on the way. The first stop was wildlife in need in Indiana. That was my birthday gift for my parents. We had tickets for the baby tiger playtime. Which was my favorite thing I've ever done. After that we headed to Nashville Tennessee which ended up being our next stop. We stayed at the Hampton inn in downtown Nashville. The next morning we explored for a few hours then meet up with my sister at their hotel. After we hung out with her for a while, we were back on the road again. Instead of take the Georgia route we took the Alabama route because none of us has ever been to Alabama. I haven't…

In Gerald Haslam's short story "Grandma," the relationship between having pride in one's cultural heritage and assimilation into the culture of the status quo is illustrated by his inclusion of Spanish in addition to the English spoken by most of the other characters. This can also be evidenced by Grandma's use of Spanish and then English as well as the narrator's decision to intersperse Spanish words into the English used to tell the story. Grandma's application of Spanish also serves as a contrast to the other characters' usage of English only, despite signs that the narrator's mother can at very least understand Spanish.…

I interviewed my grandmother, Cynthia Bonsey. She is 78, has six children and 10 grandchildren. She was a teacher in the early 60’s and married her husband, Roland, in 1961. She retired, in Lisbon, Maine in her early sixties, staying in the same house she raised her kids in. She was my biological grandmother’s best friend before she passed. After my grandmother’s death, Cynthia (or Grandma Bonsey) took over the role as my grandmother.…

never knew the exact size of my grandfather’s land. None of us younger grandchildren did; we just knew that it was big. It had its own forest with a sizeable rapid that ran through the edge on one side which dipped into a rather large dam rumoured to have a big snake at the bottom, before tapering off into a stream as it entered the neighbouring farm. We later learnt that there was no snake; it had been a story made up by our parents to discourage us from playing near the dam as neither we nor they could swim. During the rainy season, we planted white mealies. We always planted mealies, but if we were feeling particularly rich, we’d have beans and pumpkins growing alongside. As the vegetables grew, so did the weeds. During that time of the…

Two days before the wedding feast my family began to prepare for the big event. Family relatives arrived at my grandparent’s house with soft drinks and alcohol beverages. The woman began to gather all the dishware and pots ready. Meanwhile the man began to dig the underground oven. The day before the wedding the brooms family sends food to the bride’s family so the bride’s family can have a dinner feast with their guests. After dinner the bride’s sisters went to my grandparents house to decorate the house with white paper flower decorations. The day of the wedding there was fireworks all day and throughout the night. At the reception the mariachi began to play follow by the band. During the feast I danced to tropical dance music. I must say it was wonderful to live the experience of how a traditional wedding feast is celebrated.…

On the second day, my friend and I went to Crocodile Park and watch the motocross. It was my first time to see it in person and I was so amazed to see the stunts like floating in the mid air. I was also impressed to see kids driving side by side with professional motocross racers. After watching motocross we to a restaurant and had some Pancit for snack then went to Nccc Mall. I bought some toys and books for my son. It was so crowded in the Mall because Enrique Gil was there but I was not able to see even just a glimpse of him. Then me and my friend went to Jade by the sea at Times Beach where we had our dinner and sang again in a KTV room. I went home past 10 o’clock in the evening.…
