Personal Narrative: Analytical Thinking
Since I have started middle school, I have grown and learned in my reading, writing, and thinking skills. A strength of mine that I noticed in all three grade levels was my ability to comprehend the theme and main idea of texts with many details. Another strength that I displayed through all grade levels was analytical thinking. I used and continue to use analytical thinking when reading, solving problems, and envisioning new ideas. A common weakness that continue to exhibit throughout middle school is transferring my thoughts and ideas from my mind to my paper. I always have wonderful ideas, but have difficulty putting my ideas into words for others to understand. I have shown significant growth in the area of connecting information to other information that I have learned. …show more content…
In sixth grade, I did not have proficient skills of connecting different topics. In sixth grade, I was frustrated with having to learn subjects with no apparent purpose, but I now know that knowledge holds the key to success. I also have also shown growth in my collaboration and teamwork skills. When I entered middle school, I was firmly against working in groups because i thought that others would be a detriment to success on the project. Now, as an eighth grader, I am aware that everyone can bring something valuable to the table, and collaboration can aid in success. For the remainder of eighth grade, I would like to train my brain to think more creatively and practically, because analytical, creative, and practical thinking are needed to think efficiently. As I grow and mature in middle school, I become even more excited to see what the future hold for

    In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt.     After retaking the LASSI I have noticed a considerable amount of improvement as well as regression. In the beginning of the year, I vowed to myself that I would become a better student.
