Personal Narrative: An Italian Mom
Thinking about this I immediately thought of my mother. When we had that talk it had just snowed and in New Jersey it covered everything. She called me by the kitchen window and said, “Do you see that snow without a footprint in it? Well that is how you should keep yourself. Pure as the driven snow, and never let anyone convince you otherwise.” Well that is the way an Italian Mom born in 1927 approaches it. I always remember that, however I did not take quite the same approach with my two girls. I never broached the subject with my oldest daughter. Unfortunately being the rebellious one, she addressed that on her own. The youngest daughter handled things quite differently. When this daughter was approached about sex, she asked if we could

Baby Si is our soft, beautiful Docker, which is also known as a half cocker spaniel and half dashaund dog. She is by far the prettiest, most adorable dog I've ever laid my eyes on. When she's running through the grass on a bright sunny the sun is glistening off her shiney coat. She wears a long, wavy, shiny black coat, for the most part. Her paws are midsized, golden brown with little black and white toes nails. They smell so good, like a little puppy paw. She has a pretty long tail, about eight inches long. Her tail is wavy and fluffy. She has a fine strip of bright white fur going down her chest continued all the way down to her soft light pink belly. She has black ears that are too big for her tiny head. On her tiny head she has big brown…

When it comes to school, I guess you could say that my mom was a bit of a nerd. She was extremely smart and exceeded in every class. She went to a Catholic school until fourth grade. She said, about this school, “Not much happened here, I was placed in Reading and Math groups by myself, and no, I was never hit with rulers over the knuckles by the nuns, if you were wondering.” In middle school, she was placed in an advanced class and by the time she left she was finished with all her required high school math classes. She was also inducted into the National Junior Honor Society where she held the office of Secretary. In high school, since she was a big nerd, she took college level math courses and AP in all other classes. She also played…

Suddenly, I woke to the sound of pain and stress. In the dimmed hotel room, my mother was laid roughly on the bed motioning that she didn’t feel well. We had traveled the far and exciting journey to Las Vegas to witness my mom finish a half marathon. It was an event that she had spent minutes, hours, days, and months training for. I couldn’t believe that after all of the work my mom had done in the past year, she wouldn’t be able to compete on the big day. I was wrong though when my mom sat up, tidied her tangled hair and nonchalantly said, “let’s do this”.…

I am sure you find many letters coming across your desk from parents who have taken the opportunity to ‘brag’ about their child. I know mine won’t be the best, but I hope that I do my daughter justice at the end. As most parents do, especially with their first child, they keep a folder of milestones their child has reached throughout their years; a folder filled with report cards, love letters, photos, school projects, etc. When I look back at one of Morgan’s Kindergarten project “All about Me”, I couldn’t agree more with the saying on the front of her book exclaiming, ”There is nobody in the world exactly like me!”. It’s exactly how I feel about Morgan.…

My family environment has influenced me a lot especially when my siblings were born. I am the oldest out of five, so I'm always look up to. I always had to make a good example and never show that I was scared. When my mom and stepdad had to work, I would take care of them until they came back while getting my schoolwork and practicing my instrument done too. I never really had a chance to be a kid, I always had to be a mother to my siblings. I would always wish for more time in the day for myself, Although watching them grow up from when they were small and started school for the first time made up for that loss time. I live up to a quote, "Be the master of your future, not the slave of your problems." My senior year I had to stop being…

My mom has always been my biggest inspiration and throughout the years, I’ve learned a lot about what her life was like before and after I came into the picture. No, I have rehearsed the conversation a million times. Are you sick? Priscilla, you have stirred feelings in my heart that I haven’t felt for any woman.
