Personal Narrative: An Interview With Laura Jennings
I interviewed Laura Jennings because she is very approachable, even though she has a busy schedule she makes time for you. When she talks, her energy kind of rubs off on you and makes you excited for college. And when I went to interview her, she was more than happy to answer my questions. Some of hers jobs at the college are being a student coach, and basically what she does is helps students be more successful in college. She also teaches ACA-111, and she an student advisor. She pursued this career because she really enjoyed working with students and seeing them succeed.

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

It was a Saturday Night, we were starting to get a bit busy. Apparently, there was a college party that night, we had a lot of college women doing last minute shopping for attention seeking outfits. There was four of us working that night, Jaime, the manager, Jessica, working shoes, Heather on the register, and myself in the front/greeter. Now when we had people in the store that look suspicious or ones we know that steal we call them friends through our headsets.…

“I got this! I got this! Just calm down and take position. You have prepared yourself for this race all morning.” “Just take your position and breathe.” “Why is my heart pounding like this?” “Inhale and exhale.” This is normal for UWA freshman Sarah McMillion on race day. Interviewing Kenneth Athol was rather easy and straight to the point. His interview was well said although not thought out straight. He fascinated me the most out of everyone because now after college, he works at a restaurant. He earns a high salary as well which is rather good. He only earned his associate degree but already earns a higher salary than most who didn’t even go to college. Going to college takes a lot of commitment and patience and i feel i may be ready for that when i really want something like a career i’d enjoy.…

The partner I chose to interview was Caitlin Hanning. On Tuesday, the first day of school, we happened to sit by each other and out of laziness we chose to just interview each other instead of finding someone across the room. I found out through the interview it was both of our first year at BPCC, and we had similar majors, although while she is majoring in OT I am majoring in OTA. I also found out that her nickname is "Granny", which is hilarious to me. Why someone thought she deserved that nickname is a mystery to me, but it’s certainly unique.…

I was a young, black girl name Sylvia i was raised in Harlem. Everything was fine growing up in Harlem, but something was wrong with everyone else; but Sugar and I were the “ only ones just right”. Suddenly a lady moved on our block with nappy hair and proper speech and no makeup, I would laugh at , her but then again, I would laugh at, everyone especially the junk man who went to his business like her was some big time president. I would think i knew everything and had all the answers and no one could teach me anything that I didn’t know. I hated her though; Miss Moore, she was the only woman in the neighborhood that had only a “ Miss” and a “Moore” but no first name. She has cept for feets, which were fish white and spooky. The field trip…

My heart is pounding in my chest as I am in complete awe as I realize that finally she is coming. It is one of the most thrilling events that has ever happened to me in my entire life. I don’t think one can ever be completely ready for what I was about to endure as well as the pain my body was about to be put through. The pain begins to become more alarming as stronger waves of torment flows throughout my body down to the deepest core of my being. I have to say no matter how many books or classes I have taken, nothing could prepare me for what was about to happen next. It is not something that one could ever be mentally qualified for until it is actually happening. Fourteen hours of agonizing discomfort and yet we are still waiting for her to enter into this nonsensical, yet wonderful world. At that moment, I realize once she arrives she will be completely dependent on me.…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…
