Thank you for meeting with me at our law firm. I look forward to helping you in this case. I believe that we have a strong case and with your cooperation we can continue to move forward in these legal proceedings. With that said we request that you call our firm to schedule a meeting as there are some follow up questions we would like to ask you.…
It was a pleasure to meet you at the convention for trial attorneys in New York last week. In addition to the interesting program highlights of the regular sessions, the informal discussions with people like you are an added plus at these meetings. Your contribution to the program was very beneficial and highly informative.…
As Hannah knows, I had to take my car in for some unexpected repairs today so am a little short on money at the moment.…
The narrative, The Driver’s Seat struck home for me because I just received my driver’s license this past May, 2015. I took time for me to actually drive and to become comfortable behind the wheel of a car. This piece of writing spoke to me and allowed me to review some of the identical thinking points that I went through while getting to the point of taking control of my dad’s car. The story effectively walked me through the trials of spirit and mental anguish that preceded me in taking hold of the vehicle with my dad as the co-pilot giving directions. This was the exact thing the driving instructor in The Driver’s Seat‘ taught the author. The routine of how to maneuver and throw caution to the wind- taking risks- to get the author over…
I had the pleasure of being a client of Mr. White's and he made everything so simple for me. He took my Class A misdemeanor charges and laid out everything I would need to do to get the best result. He was extremely professional and knows his way around the courtroom. Between my arrest and court date he was able to formulate a case that made the charges against me seem nearly unfathomable. On my court date they tried to push my case back even further and he, despite having other clients to attend to, returned back to my case and got my charges dismissed that day.…
Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…
My family was very disliked in Andover, and over time he married a woman who did not think that he was worthy of marrying her. Then it happened, they accused him. He was brought to trial as an accused man. They accused him for being a witch because he dabbled in fortune telling when he was a young man. They ended up accusing me, too. It is time for trial.…
In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…
One of my favorite extracurricular activities I participated in was Mock Trial. It consisted of long hours and preparation. I learned scripts, objections, and how to just act in court in general. This year was hilariously disastrous. We had gotten a new coach, and he decided that we needed to do more prep and have less practices, but completely neglected to remember that this year's team comprised of mostly first time participants. He also kept changing everyone's roles. Pretending to be a witness gave me such a thrill, like could I really pull this off? And this year I did, I received compliments from the judge and the other team. I would like to say we won but we didn’t. It is never our goal to win, but to learn from our mistakes. And…
Have you ever met someone who has the "perfect job" - like the animal lover who's a great veterinarian or the science whiz who's a lab technician? What about the people who are good at what they do - but hate getting up every morning to go do it?…
"You got this big guy." Finishing my personal pep talk, I take a deep breath and enter the Walgreens that looms before me. A great challenge awaits me: the dreaded job interview. With shiny dress shoes and a freshly ironed shirt, I walk down the aisles with a bounce in my step, trying to ignore the inevitability of what is coming. "This time will be different." The manager appears later as I am waiting, frantically tapping my foot in anticipation. I approach to shake her hand and the first words she utters are the very words that I dreaded. “Oh wow, you look twelve.”…
The police said it was a robbery and that my father car was found stripped and left up on blocks. My father was barely hanging on for dear life when one of the attorneys from his old job came to tell me that his disability would now be cut off because there would be no way to tell if his injuries was from the job or from the robbery. Oh, but if that wasn’t adding salt to an already open wound, Mack Cannoli arrived to ask me how was I going to pay my father’s debt now that he can’t. What the man had offered as a way to help pay the debt had me taking a swing at him, but his men stopped me. Luckily, the police officer who was investigating the robbery walked in.…
I'm a new freshman and I really need to get in contact with my academic adviser. I've followed the directions provided by the UIW site, but my student information doesn't have a section where I can look at my "Primary Adviser", in fact it doesn't list any adviser at all. I am not apart of the exceptional majors (I'm studying 3D Animation and Game Design) so I don't understand why I can't see who I should contact. I thought that seeing as how I was admitted recently the admissions office would be the best place to contact, but if my message is misdirected I'd be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction.…
Being an attorney, what a stressful yet rewarding career. Or so my cousin, Katie Whitman Myers has told me. Katie is an Insurance and Reinsurance attorney in New Orleans. Boy oh boy, what the hell does that even mean? I asked when she told me that was the type of law she practiced, and as she chuckled she told me, “Insurance coverage, we write letters telling insurance companies what to do in certain situations and represent them if there’s a lawsuit or something.” So what really is an Insurance Attorney? Why does she have to help the insurance companies and “tell them what to do”? “The contract made between an insurance company and a third party to protect the insurance company from losses. The contract provides for…
Setting up the court observation was easy for me because my dad is a bailiff at the courthouse and could easily tell me when a bigger court would take place. Earlier in the semester, I went to a common plea court and I was bored so I left. I had to wait until my dad found out when there would be a bigger court. He told me in the middle of March on the 27th, there would be a General Sessions Court. I do not have school on Monday’s so I only had to take off work. Since I know all the bailiffs at the courthouse, I did not mind who assisted me. My dad assisted me for the most part because his job for that day was to sit in the courtroom. People who are victims sit on the right side of the courthouse, but because everyone knew me and I was in there for a class I could sit on the right side so I could sit with my dad. My dad had to go downstairs with a…
