Personal Narrative: A Christian Worldview
When first thinking about a Christian Worldview, I was contemplating what my worldview was since I am a Christian. This led to me thinking about my journey as a Christian and what has changed in my beliefs. I went to a Lutheran school from 1st grade until sophomore year of high school. The fundamentals of Christianity had been taught to me time and time again, yet I had not fully engulfed myself into the Christian way of life. Once I started at my public school, I truly embraced my faith. I see myself as a religious person because I do belong to a church community. This unit reminded me of what was taught to me those ten years of my life. We learned the 7 sacraments, except they are a little different in the Lutheran faith. When watching the …show more content…
A Christian mind, according to Stott has supernatural orientation, awareness of evil, conception of truth, acceptance of authority, concern for the person, and sacramental cast. This is the foundation I hope was started with the preschoolers I worked with at Vacation Bible School. The story of Jesus being sent by God to come save us was introduced, as well as other Jesus stories that teach Christians to trust in God. At such a young age, it is important that teachings about Jesus and Christianity are positive and inspire the children to embrace their faith and to grow in their faith. It was also interesting to think about how other countries do not have the luxury of embracing their faith. My discussion about the extinction of Christianity in the Middle East due to ISIS opened my eyes to the fact that Christianity is not something that should be taken for granted. If the “common good” were instilled, this extinction would not be occurring. If we could all tolerate and respect one another, even if we did not agree, religions would not be facing extinction. This unit reinforced what I already have learned in past experiences with the Christian

I never thought how interesting it would be to visit a different place of worship besides Christianity. Since the day I was born I’ve been a Christian and whatever anyone else believes in is wrong and that they are going to hell if they don’t believe in Christianity. About 3 years ago I visited the International Buddhist Progress Society a Buddhist temple in Naperville. Buddhism from what I learned looks more like a way of life or guidelines to it rather than a religion. Buddhism tells you how you could live life better but doesn’t scare you with the prospect of hell instead you live with ignorance. My own history with Christianity still made me doubt or fear the conquences of going to this temple. Part of me believed that I be punished by…

Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you pleased, or do you immediately come up with an endless list of insecurities? As a child one of my favorite memories was laying around the house with my older sister on rainy days. We would leave the windows open so we could hear the rain coming down on the tin roof over our patio, while watching reruns of our favorite tv show “America's Next Top Model”. I always thought that these women were gorgeous and I would catch myself constantly comparing their looks to my own. I wanted to be just like them until I realized the unrealistic expectations that they had to live up to. A sizeable butt and breasts, but not too large; they have got to be proportional. A skinny waist, impeccable hair, blemish free face although even with clear skin you are expected to cake on makeup because no one is actually pretty without mile long eyelashes, the perfect smoky eye, and exemplary contouring. Society has idolized these things as “beautiful” and shamed the girls that do not meet these standards; however, society should be making everyone feel confident in their bodies. Girls need to know that it is okay not to have an “hourglass figure” so they don’t…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

According to the Transtheoretical Model, I am currently in the Maintenance stage. My last two New Year’s resolutions have been to increase my healthy eating and exercise. Daily my focus is to eat right, and exercise. These past two years I’ve been shopping at Moms organic store. I shop there and buy fresh vegetables ranging from carrots to onions. Super fruits such as bananas and avocado are always on the list. Oats and bananas has become my favorite breakfast meal. I even buy organic pasture raised eggs. From my knowledge those are the highest quality to eggs to buy. Costing me 8 dollars a dozen! I even cook my own meals at home buying organic pasta and meats. The gym isn’t really my thing, so each day at home I go through a workout routine. The routine consists of pushups, diamond pushups, leg ups, a form of crunches and squats. I try to incorporate at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. I use a app on my phone to track my activity. If I don’t; obtain 60 minutes by my regular daily activity, I go out for jogs in my…

My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

My collage is Freedom of Religion, why I chose this freedom is because everyone has a religion, even though some people don’t choose to have a religion, it is important to them. ¨With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.¨ by Steven Weinberg. I chose this quote because anyone can have a religion it does not matter what kind of race they are, gender, or how they look. They choose what to believe in not what others believe in. Not everyone will believe in God, others may believe in something else and they cannot change that.…

    Faith Integration

A worldview is a set of beliefs, values, and attitudes that enable us to process new information and maintain a consistent view of reality. Through our worldview we apply the standards that allow us to make connections between what we know, what we experience, and what new knowledge claims we encounter. Our worldview supplies the interpretive framework for understanding our experiences and the events of the world, and it provides the values that form the basis for decision making. Because faith-learning integration is closely linked with judgments about what is or is not knowledge, our worldview is therefore clearly crucial to the proper functioning of faith and learning integration. Indeed, our worldview is the philosophical engine that drives the integrative process. A challenge facing Christian educators is that a Biblical worldview foundation has been taken for granted. Successful faith-learning integration is impossible for students who lack a clear and well defined Biblical worldview. The unity of truth—including academic and Biblical or theological truth—is at the heart of integration.…

Every human struggles everyone has hardship. When I was young I began to notice that maybe it is hard to understand what other people struggle with. The start of a mundane life began as usual a bus ride to school, but today something else happened a flash of yellow a soundless luxury sports car zoomed bass by a Lamborghini. As the car passed by everyone looked at it with amazement as the never seen a car pass from this part of the street. I began to wonder when will I get one with imaginary job I will live the high life. The bus hits a bump on the road I am begging to rationalize who much work will it take to achieve greatness to struggle to overcome adversity.…

I walked, violin in hand, with my sister and friend Reese. I smiled as my sister and I assumed our position at the front of the room. My smile quickly faded as I scanned the room. Some people remained hunched over, others had their backs turned to us, and one lady roamed aimlessly around the room.…
