Personal Narrative: A Career In Film: George Mason
Because I intend on pursuing a career in film, I see George Mason as an excellent pathway. The impressive intellectual and technical resources give me the confidence of knowing that I would be getting the most forward-focused education in film. The Film and Video studies program's relationships with numerous studios and agencies is captivating. Also having the opportunity to complete an internship is exactly the type of experience I'm looking for.

George Mason has a beautiful location. Being from the Richmond area I've always pictured myself in the heart of a bigger city. I find the museums, restaurants, and parks exciting to explore.

George Mason has infectious school spirit. I assume leaving home for the first time in eighteen years

For my post-secondary schooling, I have been accepted into, and planning to attend, Georgia Southern University. I chose this school for many different reasons, and going to orientation expanded those reasons. Georgia Southern offers many great opportunities for what I want to do in life. The campus is about an hour away from where I currently live, so it is close to home but not too close to home. The professors and staff are friendly and want to see the students succeed and are always ready to help. I could go on and on about why I chose this school, but I believe…

Fairmont State is a very nice campus and one of its advantages is the tuition price. For one year at Fairmont State you pay, $12,288 and for one year at West Virginia it is $19,632. So, as you can tell, West Virginia is a whole lot more expensive than Fairmont State. Another plus to Fairmont State is that my Grandma has a house that is ten minutes away. That is nice because staying at her house will significantly lower the price of living. One thing I also like is the town of Fairmont; it is similar to Morgantown, a nice city with country all around. That is good since I am an outdoors person and both places have that option. Something else that I considered is that my mother went to Fairmont State. She went there and got an undergraduate degree in accounting and economics. She was involved in many college activities such as, cross country running and was a freshman counselor; she also was a founding member of the Student Accounting Society at the college. She had a very good experience there and she was offered a job from one of her professor’s right out of college. So, not only did Fairmont State prepare her for a career in accounting, she was also offered a job right out of college (Henderson Denise). Overall Fairmont State is a good college, with a nice community surrounding…

Yale appeals to me because of all the amazing opportunities that it offers. I'm looking to go onto medical school and I know after extensive research that Yale offers me the opportunities as a pre-med student that I need in order to make my dream of becoming a doctor a reality. Yale offers a great amount of assistance such as health professions advising, career advising, and tutoring which isn't something that all colleges usually prioritize so I genuinely appreciate it especially because I realize that being a pre-med student at any college will prove to be demanding and rigorous.…

I like Randolph-Macon because it is a small school with less than 1,200 students. The atmosphere on the campus is beautiful, I love walking through the campus when I visited my brother up there. Also, the reconstruction they are doing is going to be really nice. I have been told from a lot of people that have gone there, that there is a great bond between your classmates. Going to a small college like Randolph-Macon has its advantages that big colleges do not have.…

The main appealing factor of Salisbury University is how close it is to my home. At the most, Salisbury is just over two hours away from everything I’ve attached myself to in Owings. This is a huge deciding factor for me personally, as I don’t want to stray too far from my family and community that remain in Maryland. Because Salisbury is in Maryland, it greatly decreases the tuition to less than $10,000 per year. This is also a great factor for any student who is keeping their future…

This school has a very friendly environment, and that is rare seeing how sizable the school is and the variety of people that there are. Texas A&M is the fifth biggest school in the country, and from multiple sources it has been said to have a huge sense of togetherness. Another reason to go here is that it is very well known and I would take great pride in being an Aggie. It also is less expensive than a lot of colleges in Texas.…

I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given.…

My experience at Liberty University has helped me further my worldview. It has helped me understand that as a child of God, it is my responsibility to help my brothers and sisters, whether in my professional or personal life. While working as Detention Deputy, I will encounter individuals who all have different worldviews. It is my duty as a child of God and a Deputy to learn how to accept those individuals who have different worldviews than my own. Attending Liberty University has helped me understand not to look at my job just as managing Inmates, but as helping people change their lives for the better, so they can be productive citizens on the outside.…

There are many sport professions within the sports industry, but many of these jobs are highly sought after making them competitive in the job market. Working for a professional team has been my dream since the age of 12. Growing up I played almost every sport, so I followed most of the ESPN channels. I got the opportunity of meeting Kelly Baisly, a marketing coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In our discussion she was able to lead me in the right course when it came to deciding my career path. Almost everyone I have talked to about getting into the sport industry has said one common thing, and that is, get as much experience as you can. On a typical day to day basis, Kelly will arrive at work at 9am and immediately start brainstorming…

I first began looking at colleges my freshman year of high school. First, I looked up schools I thought seemed interesting and had majors I thought I may want to develop and pursue a career in. My list started off with about 20 schools and by sophomore year I would need to break it down to about 10. I began to visit these schools 1 by 1 and saw the type of programs they had to offer. I began at colleges such as Wake Forest, Clemson, and University of Tennessee at Knoxville. But I could tell that these schools just weren’t for me. My mother became fed up because I did not find interest in the schools I thought I would fall in love with.…

As a student-athlete, one of the most important lessons I learned was how crucial it was to be a student before an athlete. Athletes devote endless amounts of time to sports during the summer, but also stay busy throughout the school year. Knowing how to manage my time and put my school work first is a trait I learned from being active. Teachers still hold athletes accountable for various assignments, and I knew that my overall education was to be put before all else. While I don’t plan on playing sports in college, I will still need to devote time to my school work before doing other activities, like work.…
