Personal Narrative: A Career As A Summer Camp Leader

Although I have served as a leader in everything from the Humane Society to science club, working as a group leader at my school’s cheerleading camp taught me the most! As a summer camp leader, I was entrusted with a group of thirty campers with ages ranging from four to ten as well as a small group of my peers. I was responsible for teaching the mini-campers how to dance, cheer, and tumble, ultimately preparing them for the parent performance. My additional leadership duties included moving the group to stations on time, creating routines, cheers, and games to keep the kids busy, and finally, settling disagreements among the girls. By the end of the experience, I learned teamwork, patience, and how to mix fun with focus, which ultimately
