When it comes to keeping the human body, nutrition is the most essential part of everyone’s life. If people do not have full control, it will affect the way they will be in the future. Any change to someone's diet will change their body in the long run, whether it be positive or negative. It is quite apparent, especially in America, that the common person’s nutrition has gone down hill. Since the 1980s, the rate of obesity has inflated double the amount for adults and triple for children (“Obesity” p. 1). Shockingly, America spends more on fast food than on college education, computers, software and cars combined. In fact, in 2005, Americans spent one hundred thirty four billion dollars on fast food alone. In the ‘70s, America only spent six billion (Schlosser p. 10). I am not one to blame McDonalds for the drastic rise of poor nutrition. There are obviously other reasons why. I mainly blame the misinformation and myths that the general public has been told. The reason why that people are more unhealthy now than in the past is…

To begin with, Americans are not very open minded on the idea of healthy eating, they are not well educated on the topic. They think that eating healthy is just eating salad or not eating anything at all, when in reality, that just makes the problem worse because it would be like trying to keep a boat from sinking by throwing rocks at it, you’re just making it worse. Eating right consists of different types f foods: proteins, which are meat and/or chicken and others, fruits and veggies which are the salads, and grains which would be the rice and the beans.…

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, the saying goes. I have learned that it is next to beauty, too. Cleanliness has taught me self-discipline. I also associate it with beauty. It is difficult to keep things clean and in order in today's frenetic world. It takes effort and effort takes self-discipline, but when I walk around my home or wear clean and neat clothes I feel better about myself. It gives me a sense of order and I think it says something about me to people I meet or who come to my home. Beauty makes life bearable and I find it everywhere.…

The western world has adopted an unhealthy approach to eating, which would have been considered gluttonous in the not-so-distant past. We pay little attention to the amount that we eat, and often stare at entertainment throughout our meals; neglecting meaningful interaction with others. The great irony is that we are overweight as a nation because we are starving for nutrition. We are deficient of magnesium, the B vitamins, Vitamin D, and almost every trace mineral, due to our synthetic fertilizers having depleted the soils, and our chemically "refined" foods. Our foods are so deficient that the more we eat, the hungrier we tend to become, as our bodies struggle to make use of the empty calories. It is like the case of the early American settlers, who lived on a diet of corn. A huge portion of those settlers died of starvation and…

If you faced the hardest team in your basketball league, would you automatically forfeit? Many American consumers just might! Instead of taking a small portion out of their overloaded schedules, they ignore the effects of eating unhealthy foods. No one would argue that the time consuming method of eating healthy is more important than keeping up with the tasks that life throws at us, but there are ways of eating better without getting in the way of busy schedules such as shopping right and replacing hot chips and sodas with baby carrots and water. Real life does happen, but as a powerful nation, we need to eat correctly even though we have responsibilities, deadlines, and food preferences. In my opinion, the best and only reason why people shouldn't eat healthy is because it is hard mentally to do.…

To make a house charming and comfortable for use, it should be well-groomed. A well-groomed house is basically clean. Keeping a house clean is a problem quite a few single working parents have, between taking care of children and working a full time job, house work seems to get the short end of the stick. Activities can be hectic upon the return from work and school for the parent and children. During preparation of dinner and completion of homework, vacuuming the carpet doesn’t seem that important. Too often homes fall into disorder, due to tiredness or busyness with other things. When all is said and done “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” and should never be ignored. A clean house is important for the health and well-being of your entire family. First of all, a dirty house is a germy house, and the best defense against the spread of illnesses is to keep the germs washed away. The well being of the family is enhanced by an uncluttered atmosphere. If the rule of "a place for everything and everything in its place" is observed, the environment will be more serene, and less time will be wasted in looking for lost items. This is particularly true when you have a modern house design. The clean flow of the lines gets lost when the house is dirty.…

The diets that American’s have put upon themselves are really quite interesting. I say this because there is the skip breakfast, just drink coffee, there’s the Atkins’ diet where you eat mainly vegetables and meat, then there is the vegan and vegetarian diets where there is no meat involved what so ever. Of course you always have the random diets where they say it doesn’t matter what you eat, just how much of it you eat. This is not completely true, and we all know it. Pickled pig feet is bad for you even if you eat on serving of it. The same goes for one serving of French fries or fried anything just about. American’s don’t know what the word diet means anymore, they’re inventing their own things so that they may become malnourished, skinny people. Dieting doesn’t only mean losing weight, it also means becoming healthier, which American’s seem to have lost sight…
