Personal Fitness Research Paper
One of my personal fitness objectives would be to be able to do 15 full body push ups without stopping before the end of the semester as well improve core strength in general (meaning being able to do exercises that work the core workout being tired within 5-10 minutes). I want to be able to do more push ups because when I see improvement, I start enjoying the exercise more and it motivates me to continue doing it and push ups and core strength have always been something I want to improve on but never was able to. I feel that by getting a stronger core and gaining arm strength can only help me feel healthier has well as improve my performance in sports. If I could gain arm strength, I would be able to swim faster and by getting a stronger core, …show more content…
This achievement is important to me because I constantly want to improve my running time and that 5:00 has been like a wall that I can’t cross in the past year, so it would feel amazing to break that barrier and just improve my time. From this I would not only benefit from a faster running time but also the motivation to continue running and to feel like if I push myself, it’s worth it. I think that if I continue running 3 to 5 times a week like I am currently doing, I will be able to improve my running time to 5:00 minutes for 1 km. If I don’t reach that goal during the semester, I will probably be able to get there during the summer, so I think this can only increase my motivation to run.

My third personal fitness objective would be to improve my endurance and speed when doing sit ups as to be able to do 32 of them in 30 seconds instead of 23. This would be accomplished by not only doing more sit ups, crunches and other exercises that help build abdominal muscle, but also by doing more sets, of maybe less of those exercises but timed as to improve the speed. From the accomplishment of this

because there are always exercises that can be done to improve the number of push ups, of sit ups, etc. done without needing any material. As such, material resources (except small weights, yoga mat and other basic workout gear) are only optional. The help of trainer, instructor, trained staff, etc. though also not necessary, can be found within the people who take part in the Défi, such that if I need any help concerning how something is done, how to do a better workout, etc. I can always see them or go on YouTube or the Web to watch how a certain exercise is done, because there is a lot of good fitness content on the Web, even though not everything on the Web is

I am a very active person so therefore I went over the recommend minutes. I am active six days out the week. I usually take one day off to allow my body to rest and heal. I would think I’m used to the by now. I preform at least 3 hours the day. Based upon my findings in class I do meet the recommendation for cardio, strength and flexibility. In the beginning I was the weakest link but I constantly stuck at it. Now my leg and arm strength are is stronger than ever. I am a very flexible person. I can take my body in many positions and there is no after burn. At the end of each performance I do some breathing tricks to get stable and me going. Also I believe I should balance my body out. In Barbara Ehrenreich’s “The Naked Truth about Fitness”, she discusses multiple varying ideas from health vs. healthism, virtue redefining health, to social class impact on health (Ehrenreich, 2015, pp. 337-339). The ideology created from the obsession with extreme health defines healthism that produces a base for moral standards. Although healthism has a limit of rightness within it, it still produces judgment as an outcome. Individuals’ obsession to achieve virtue transforms health into healthism.…

“We’re on the paleo diet,” two of my former male co-workers said back in 2013 as they were sitting down to eat on our lunch break. Four massively poached eggs wiggled on each of their plates along with two sides stacked with bacon. I remember staring at them with a look of concern, and a bit of disgust since I cannot stomach eggs myself. When I asked what the heck a paleo diet was, one of them laughed like I had asked what 2 + 2 equaled.…

At 6 '0" and approximately 210 lbs with a BMI (body mass index) of 28 I am considered overweight and very close to being obese according to the website weight-loss.emedtv.com. I am positive that my current and very poor fitness and nutritional habits are the main cause of my depleting health status as well as my current overweight status. Asking me to explain my current fitness and nutritional habits is basically superfluous. My current fitness habit includes nothing more than the occasional golf or bowling outing, and it does not happen more than once every 2-3 months. My current nutritional habits are just as bad if not worse. Typically I only eat once or twice a day and normally they are very large portions of generally unhealthy foods. For example this past Thursday I managed to eat two medium pizzas from Pizza Hut in one sitting and on Saturday I ate two foot long sandwiches from Subway within about 40 minutes. My fitness and nutritional habits have been the same for years and I know that they are the reason that I am so close to being considered obese. There are a number of health risks associated with obesity. According to WebMD.com "Obesity is not just a cosmetic problem, it 's a health hazard. Someone who is 40% overweight is twice as likely to die prematurely as is an average-weight person. This is because obesity has been linked to several serious medical conditions". Some of the health risks that are associated with obesity include: Heart disease and stroke, High blood pressure, Diabetes, Cancer, Gallbladder disease and gallstones, Osteoarthritis, and Breathing problems, such as asthma. (WebMD.com).…

To be honest, before I started P.E I didn't really acknowledge being fit. I wasn't aware of what being fit really meant. More along the lines of what it's "stereotyped" to be (being skinny, working out and losing weight.) However, during these past couple weeks I've come to realize that being fit is so much more. It changes your life completely in many ways. It gives you a whole different outlook on life, makes you more aware and happy; makes simple every day activities anything but a chore. Being fit is vital, especially at my age where as I can be doing so much more with myself. And this, is what I plan to do. To be fit, not just for this semester - but for the long run.…
