Our gender, cultural background, and socioeconomic status also affect what choices we make when we exercise. I have found that a person's culture has an impact on which physical activities individuals participate in to stay healthy. I have currently interviwed three individuals who are all from different cultures and ethnic groups. Research suggests that a person’s culture shapes their attitudes toward and involvement in physical activity, a view that was confirmed by the participants in my focus group interviews. Questions like:
1. What is your first name?
2. How old are you?
3. Are you male or female?
4. What country are you from or where does your heritage originate?
5. Explain to me fully about your social life. Are you the type of person who has a lot of friends and goes out every night or are you the type of person who much prefers to stay solitary and spend most of your time indoors?
6. Please tell me what your career is, or if you're in high school or college.
7. How physically active are you?
8. What sports do you prefer and what sports do your parents (or any relative) prefer?
9. What sports do people of your cultural background usually play?
10. What exercises do you perform to stay fit? (ex. biking, swimming) were noted during each interview and was asked to answer each and every one of the questions specifically. Interviewing Person
