Personal Essay: My American Dream

I believe that it is a privilege that as American citizens we can play a role in our government. I have always been engrossed by politics. When I was four years old and trick or treating in Parma, every house that I went to that had a George W. Bush sign in their front yard I told them not to vote for him because he would raise their taxes. Surprisingly, they all still gave me candy. Probably because I am still young, I have this crazy dream that I am going to make the world a better place. I am going to do everything in my power to make that dream a reality. Beginning at a young age, I learned what being poor looks like. I learned what it was like to be hungry, to be around drug addicts, to have parents who would rather buy cigarettes than baby formula. One day, I want to make it better for all
It is also very hard because it is hard to get people to give their money up to you no matter what you cause is. It has also been hard for me because I have always been kind of shy, but since High School, I have really been coming into my own, and being a leader of Blanket Buddies has given me so much more intrapersonal skills. Something else I have learned through being a leader is how to work with people I do not agree with. Me and my other co-leader do not get along well at all, but this experience has taught me how to compromise and how to stick to my beliefs when I need to. I think that High School is the time in which people learn all these life skills, and I know that I can learn a lot more as a senate page. If I am really going to change the world one day then I am going to need all the experience that I can get. I believe that it is a great privilege that in the United States we can help to shape our policies. I want to be one of the people that collaborate to write these policies and who push these ideas to become our way of
