Personal Declaration of Independance
I a eighteen year old in America, hereby require the right to be able to purchase and consume alcohol! I am a legal adult that is old enough to fight for my country but, not old enough to be able to enjoy a bowl of pasta with a glass of wine.
The ideal situation for purchasing and consuming alcohol at eighteen would be to take some kind of “maturity test” the “test” would be more of a medical exam to see how mature your body and mind is and how it would act to alcohol. If all “test” are passed accordantly to the grade scale you will get a different ID with some kind of indication that you are under 21 but can legally purchase and consume alcohol.
The current situation must be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcohol. Therefore we under 21 cannot purchase or consume alcohol.
They are many, many countries whose legal age to purchase and consume alcohol is eighteen; the U.S. is one of the few who require you to be 21.
The government does not really enforce this law on famous celebrities who we all know consume alcohol and always get away with it, what is the difference between them and us?
Since the government, state officials, and parents will not consider our God-given rights, I hereby declare my independence from the procedures of this law.

According to the United States law, people age eighteen and above are considered adults. Likewise, other European countries and developed countries. Why should adults, then be barred from consuming alcohol?, Since adults are capable of making their own life decisions. The minimum age for drinking is set at twenty one in the us. This simply neglects adult choices, rights, desires, and wants. However, it is obvious in the society that alcohol is consumed by individuals age sixteen and above, for recreational uses. The law does not reflect the drinking population and the actual age in which it should be set. I personally started drinking at age fifteen, although…

It’s there for a reason and is not the only law that prevents 18 year olds from legally doing something. For example you can’t legally buy a hand gun, gamble at a casino, or adopt a child until 21 years of age. All of which is due to responsibility and the safety of self and others. Meaning the drinking age now is completely reasonable and appropriate when considering the consequences of it being otherwise. Everyone had to wait till 18 to be considered a legal adult, what’s three more years? It’s better to be safe now and not sorry later. Wait till you 21 to drink for your sake and…

21 is the correct age since it would reduce the number of underage drinkers. The percentage of underage drinkers has decreased since 1984 when most MLDA 21 laws came into effect. Newly-legal drinkers often purchase alcohol for their underage peers, creating a "trickle-down" effect. Young adults 18 and younger are known for being irresponsible, so in result those who are 18 are more likely to buy alcohol for high school students and younger kids in middle school. This would cause an issues since the earlier someone starts drinking, the more addictive it can become. In a 2002 meta-study, 87% of the analyses found higher legal drinking ages associated with lower alcohol consumption("Drinking Age…

If I am old enough to go to war, vote, have an abortion, give consent to have sex, or have a smoke, then I should be able to have a drink. Those are the types of arguments the proponents for the eighteen drinking age will generally give, but there is more to consider when it comes to the topic of alcohol. In an article published in The Los Angeles Times, Shari Roan explains the pros and cons of the drinking age. She states that “… [there are] approximately 1,700 alcohol related deaths in the United States among college students each year” and if the drinking age gets set to eighteen, this number is more than likely to rise. Alcohol is a dangerous, mind altering substance that if used carelessly, can cause an immense amount of damage both physically and mentally to adults and young adults.…

At the age of 18 you are legally considered an adult in the U.S. It entitles you to what you would think to be the freedoms of a responsible adult. You can vote, get married, join the army and fight for our country, and even sign contracts. But somehow you’re not considered mature enough to have a sip of alcohol? This law should be considered discrimination against young adults in the 18-20 age range. What many people don’t know, is the real reason why we have the world’s highest drinking age. In 1984 congress threatened to reduce highway funding for all states who did not raise their minimun purchase age and public possession of alcohol laws. Of course all U.S. states complied with this act, nationally raising the legal age. They say it’s…

The most common argument is that the age of adulthood is eighteen, so the drinking as should be eighteen as well. Eighteen is the age when you get the right to vote, marry, sign contracts, purchase tobacco, and join the military. A vary valid argument is that if you are legally allowed , and sometimes even obligated, to join the military you should be allowed to legally consume alcohol. This is argued because this includes risking your own life and putting other people’s lives in your hands. If someone is old enough to kill another human being they are old enough to make the decision to drink. It is argued that, If someone is old enough to get married they should be old enough to drink a glass of champagne at their wedding.…
