Personal Decision-Making Strategy This paper will describe basic leadership processes for this author if put in a position to develop decision-making plans. There are many tools and various aspects of leadership to include decision theory, critical-thinking processes, and team-building needs. Relationships are also very important as any leader needs input from a team or peers to help solidify proper solutions to problems. There are also a number of decision-making approaches that a leader can choose from, yet it is a leader’s own developed style that will make an individual effective. The leader just needs to know how to apply the chosen approach. Much hinges on the role the leader is thrust into.
Leadership Role A leadership role available in the short term to this author is a mid-level management position responsible for ten personnel. The title of the position is training manager. The responsibilities include yearly evaluations, timecard approving authority, issuing daily duties, and planning short-term and long-term objectives. The position also requires general oversight that includes quality assurance checks to ensure individuals are performing to standard. Counseling and evaluation of individual performance is one of the most important duties as it should be important for any team leader to recognize the team’s strengths and weaknesses.
