Personal Career Goals
Once I am secured in a position, the two tactics that I would use to succeed in my employment are to avoid career disaster by incorporating perpetual career management and keeping up my networking. The best time to work on your career is when your job is secure. Even if you’re very happily employed today, you never know what may happen tomorrow! To avoid a career disaster, you should incorporate the concept of “Perpetual Career Management” into your professional life. Vital tasks like keeping your success stories up to date, or networking regularly with professionals in your industry, should be incorporated into your routine whether the economy is good or bad – and whether you feel you need to or not. Instead of focusing completely on my job, I will focus on managing my career at all times, regardless of where the economy or job market happens to be.
I believe this is the key that will help me to chop months off my next job search, if I have to , significantly boost my salary, perhaps get me promoted faster, and never worry again about job security or layoffs. Being successful in a profession covers a lot of aspects. Being successful in a career does not only mean being paid at the end of the month and getting appraisals at the end of a year or more. Every individual who is in a profession should have career goals and some objectives that are over and above their day to day objectives of earning and working. There are severals goals I plan to achieve in my career and it goes back a long way to the way I was raised. There is a saying, "God bless the child that got his own". I would love to own my own business one day. This is one of my career goals. Every individual who is in a profession should have career goals and some objectives that are over and above their day to day objectives of earning and working. Once I have set up these goals I have to work on achieving them and come up with a project plan to reach and achieve them in a conclusive manner.

My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

First and foremost, after pursuing real-world banking internships, I have reviewed my career path thoroughly and now know in what areas I still need to improve. I consider that I am short in the relevant knowledge in corporate finance, which is the core topic in the MSF program at Carroll, as it provides courses like Corporate Finance Theory and Financial Econometrics. With the rigorous courses instructed by world-class faculty, I believe that I will be well-versed in finance when I start my career. Secondly, the Carroll School has a strong networking relationship with its community, alumni, and financial industries, which proves its good reputation. It provides its students with the opportunities to develop their potential value by serving the local community and to gain substantial on-the-job experiences. Everyone could be a good follower, but not everyone can become a successful leader. I believe I have accumulated many experiences in leadership, which is a precious skill for me. With these skills and the critical thinking I have developed during my study, I will be able to contribute to the program by providing keen thoughts in class, actively interacting with faculty and fellow students, and adopting proactive approaches to course materials, rather than simply covering the requirements. Additionally, my international background would be beneficial to the program’s global scope since I not only possess classic Asian cultural characteristics like conservatism and prudence, but also I am infused with U.S cultural features like vibrancy and courageousness. Hence, by combining the strengths of these two cultures, I will surely contribute to making Carroll a more diverse management school. As a future alumnus, I would still consider myself a part of Carroll and will come back to share more practical, tactical strategies with young students. As a future professional, I would like to establish a link with Carroll students, helping them step into the finance…
