Personal Argument Analysis
From a personal standpoint, college is meant to create a more intelligent, independent, and open-minded individual. Our occupational objective, as students, is to become competent in whatever field or career choice we decide, and also allows ourselves to be relevant in the job market. As I stated in the first writing assignment, I come from a first generation family, meaning neither of my parents completed college. Conversely, this does not necessarily imply that I am the first of my immediate family to attend a college or university. Since middle school, the one of the more influential events in my life were when my older brother attended Greensboro College and also completed his studies. As a first generation college student I did not know what to expect from college. Sure I had heard plenty of stories from my peers and high school teachers, however, hearing a story and actually experiencing is very different. I had heard all too many times things such as- you will be more independent, be sure to ask a lot of questions, and most importantly college is very expensive. Whenever someone would talk about the tuition issue among different universities a certain question ways lingered in my head. I asked myself, “Is college worth it?”.…

I agree with the argument because you can be more social without a computer or phone. Jorge Cruz said in paragraph 5, “I think it’s important to face other people and speak up for yourself” I can agree with that because i don't have a phone but i do have a computer which i don't go on every day but i still make friend out of school. but if you on your computer or phone all day then you don't go outside and you don't make new friends and to have a real friend is to meet them face to face. You also can't have a girlfriend. In paragraph 4 Jorge Cruz said;”One over my friends was even involved in a relationship with a girl from another country, whom he met through the internet and never seen in person” I also agree with that because one of them…

What other people don’t tell them is that college is to help build people that can better the community and the world. McCreery writes about how college’s true purpose is to build people that have the education that allows them to survive in the world and be able to think things you that others didn’t not just to make you a big paycheck. The way College does this is by providing students with classes that can help them grow as a human and be the best they can be. A great example of this is when I took a liberal arts class this class helped me learn how I learn and how other people learn so wat I learned is that i learn the best when I write things down but it also thought me that people learn differently some people learn better by seeing things or hearing what they need to learn and other learns by touching and feeling things to remember it and learn…

Society tends to believe that attending to college is something that everyone should do in order to live a successful and prosperous life. After doing research about the benefits of college, read different perspectives and opinions of different authors my view about college has changed. A lot of kids think that in order to get accepted into college you need to have perfect test scores and an exceptional gpa but that’s not true. Angel B. Perez in the article, Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail, asserts that college admission officers want to get to know the student applying outside of his/her academic history. That means that if you are eager to learn you can get into college and by attending to college you are going to expand your mind, gain more knowledge and be a successful person.…

Consequently, if we accept that our beliefs, desires, and predisposed psychological structures, inform our actions, then we are not free to choose them. As a result of this inability to choose, it would be impossible to claim that we are morally responsible for the results of the actions that come from these beliefs, desires, and predisposed psychological structures. In order, “To be truly morally responsible for what you do you must be truly responsible for the way you are – at least in certain crucial mental respects.”1…

In discussion of colleges importance, one controversial issue has been on how much it really matters. On the one hand, college supporters argue that college is very important and can help one achieve a prosperous future. On the other hand, college detractors contend that college is a waste of time and not useful in the long run. My own view is that college can be useful when people use it in the right way; to gain a degree, and not just to party.…

Throughout the year as a writer, I have learned how to use and express my opinions more often than what I did before. Although these were minor changes, I felt like these changes made myself more confident in what I was writing and I can connect with them based on either own personal experience in my synthesis essays, or use different sources from DBQ essays, or the sources that I used in my constructive argument essays. In my synthesis essays, I tried my best in incorporating things that I have learned and personal experiences that might help my argument. I mostly simplified on what I want to say in my synthesis essays, however, I felt like I can further expand on what I wanted to write, but I could not find a way to express those ideas on paper.…

As a college student, I can say that attending college has made me feel as if I am doing something valuable for myself and my family. In this way college is valuable. Firstly, it gives a sense of purpose to the student. There is a means to and end and it is generally perceived that upon obtaining your degree that you will be hired in your chosen field. Secondly, college is a social environment. Attending college gives you the opportunity to meet new people you might not have met otherwise. As Caldwell writes about the non-educational benefits of college he states that “Colleges are the country’s most effective marriage brokers” and goes on to say that “Anyone can benefit from them” (213). College can also teach young adults about being responsible and about taking pride in their work. After all, you are mostly accountable to yourself as a college education isn’t…

College is a very difficult decision in many people's lives around the world. The stories of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs show that sometimes college would not be the best idea for some people. However, these successful people went through difficult times and failed much in life, before becoming who they are now. While many people believe college is not worth it, it really is, because college is a pathway for many people into a great career, while also allowing graduates the gain of knowledge from the experience.…
