Person Vs. Society In An Inspector Calls By G. Wells
This book is about a boy,(Will) his brother,(Cal) his dad,(Dr. Burrows) and the boy’s friend.(Chester) They get lost inside of an underground colony, and they have to escape. This book is in third person. This story takes place in modern-day London, and underground London, too. The form of conflict is Person vs. Society, because Will and Cal want to try to escape the underground colony, which is a whole society that doesn’t want anyone to escape the colony.

I chose Will as the major character to describe. Will plays a huge role in this story, because he’s in almost every scene in the story. Will is a kid roughly my age, and he doesn’t have any glasses. I’m not sure, but I think that he has white hair. He has a pretty good temper. They didn’t really describe much about him in the book. I guess that they wanted me to make up the character in my mind. He loves digging tunnels and finding treasures in them. He’s never found anything extraordinary, but he’s found some pretty cool stuff. Cal is Will’s brother, and I think that is an important interaction. Chester helps Will with digging the tunnels, so he’s like Will’s assistant in a way. Here are some quotes to help you understand Will. “As he looked around, his light caught his son, a strange sight with a shock of white hair sticking out like bleached straw from under his battle-scarred miner’s helmet, his pale blue eyes

They get put in prison in an underground civilization. Then Will gets bailed out of prison by his so-called brother who apparently lives here. His “brother” tries to convince Will that he is actually his brother, and after a long time of persuading, Will finally believes him. Then they break out of the city. This part is the climax. Will and Cal (his brother) make it back to the surface, and then they realize that they should go back to the civilization to save Chester. Dun! Dun!

Throughout The Partials the author, by Dan Wells, brings up many different types of social issues that we can all find in our society today. Three of the main social issues he uses is the government controlling women’s body, isolation of different groups, and genetic engineering. These topics were brought up the most in the book, because they all have very important significance in how the characters interact with each other. Each of these topics are the main problems that Kira, the main character, faces while trying to find the Partials and also test them for the virus. The social problems in this book are what truly make it a dystopian novel.…

Orientation introduces the reader to several different characters, however none of them appear to be what is considered a traditional protagonist. The most prominent character in the story is the narrator, but he or she provides no information about himself or herself, other than to say, “That's my cubicle there, and this is your cubicle.” The narrator knows intimate details about the lives of the other characters; details that he or she has no reason to know. Some of things that the narrator mentions are normal observations, such as, “Russel Nash has put on forty pounds,” or “Amanda Pierce...has a six-year old son named Jamie, who is autistic. Her cubicle is plastered from top to bottom with boy's crayon artwork,” while other details reveal…
