Oprah Winfrey struggled and persevered in many ways. One way she persevered was when she overcame her fears and told her sexual assault story to help other people who have been through the same situation. When Oprah was only 9 years old she was raped and assaulted by her cousin. Throughout her childhood, she was continuously sexually molested by close family friends. Due to her being abused, she became pregnant at age 14. The baby ended up being premature and died after only 2 weeks. She spoke out about this story and encouraged other girls to report and stay strong after situations like this. ¨I don't want any other child to go through what I did¨ Oprah told the audience at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
