There are good times and bad times in life, some easier than others, but more often than not you will need to push and persevere through something hard at one point or another. Fever 1793 shows how Mattie and her family go through hard times. In the book Mattie is a teenage girl living with her mother, grandfather and a girl named Eliza who work in the coffee shop they own. Mattie faces some hard times when the fever strikes the town. Mattie is able to get through these hard times with the strength that she has gained overtime.
