Just having a mindset of persevering is all it takes for someone to face and overcome their troubles. There is know one understanding of perseverance, but in this essay I will explain what perseverance means to me.

The dictionary definition of persevere is “ to persist in anything undertaken; maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement; continue steadfastly.” but to others it may mean something different. For example, a poor person might think persevering is making ends meet, getting through the day without, well, dying. But Bill Gates might think that persevering is working hard all day maintaining his business. Social class is one way of differentiating a persons thinking on perseverance.
Another way is emotional state. Someone who is depressed might think that staying strong and beating the thoughts of the mind is persevering. Different people have different understandings of what this word means also depending on hardships. Things like anxiety, bankrupt, low selfconfidence and even grades can be hardships to different people. Overall, this word can mean so many different things to so many different people.

I am convinced that you know what the hero’s journey is, only don’t you know it by name. The Hero’s Journey or Monomyth is a formula or a structure presented by Joseph Campbell in his book called The Hero of a Thousand Faces (1949). In this book, Campbell describes twelve stages of a narrative, and comes up with a conclusion that in great and successful narratives, the characters are all the same. Therefore, these stages can be applied in (almost) every narrative, from cinema or literature.…

While we were leaving Independence, we tried to get into a section that moving, but there was so many wagons and people that we didn't know where to go. We were stuck there for at least 4 hours just sitting in our wagons waiting to find a chance to go. Finally after it all died down a little bit, we got into a line and started to move. We were traveling towards the Kansas river and we thought it would be easy to pass but since there were so many people, it took forever. We had to pay 1 dollar for every wagon that crossed so we ended up paying around 6 dollars to cross. This was one of the longest river crosses I think I will ever encounter. It took around 6 hours and once we were all on the other side, we had to go to sleep and wait to continue until the sun rises. A week later we got to Alcove…
