On Halloween each year, my family does not go trick-or-treating. Instead, we turn off all our lights, make a couple batches of popcorn, order pizza, and sit down together in our living room to watch movies. We often watch more than one movie on this special night. Last year, we decided to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. My siblings and I had read and loved the books, written by Rick Riordan, so we thought, “How bad could it be? It would be amazing to see these incredible stories onscreen!” We were wrong. There are answers to all of these, however, taken straight from other producers' examples, except for the problem of money, which even producers have little control over. There are many differences between the movie and the book. First the positive points: This film attaches faces to Scout, Jem, Miss Maudie, and Dill, since no description of their faces is given in the book. Also, the film has some genuinely hilarious moments, particularly the scene where Scout is dressed as a ham and walking through the forest. Another good point is that the acting was superb and a treat to watch. Gregory Peck, who played Atticus, was captivating. The film is cast very well. The novel does not give physical descriptions of Scout, Jem, Miss Maudie, and Dill, but the film characters were believable. The actors look like what we would expect them to look like.…

One of the characters, named Death, states, “I’m always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both.” True, we’re all human beings but how we picture the world and react to it is a whole different story. The extent of examples that can be found in the novel, movie, play, and even real life Nazi Germany has a very wide range including the mass murders and the “Harriet Tubman”s.…
