In Gimple’s case, he’s apparently putting an emphasis on broadening the characters. That’s much needed and very welcome to an already very good series. A good storyteller will take every opportunity to bring the audience closer to the characters, to explore the backstory of those characters and perhaps to change the audience’s opinions of them.…
Percy Jackson is the main protagonist of the last Olympian. Percy isn’t greed at because he turned down god hood. “Oh, not you although I suppose I should wonder turning down immorality” (Riordan, 355) after defeating Kronos he was given a offer to be a god. He is also funny “With great power... comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later”. Making funny remark and one liner makes him a funny character in general, this funny one liner was said after he obtained the curse of Achilles and they were outside the underworld. Percy is also caring for his friends and he would do anything to protect them. "You're cute when you get worried; your eyebrows get all scrunched together."(Riordan, 199) this was after Percy’s friend Annabeth was fatally…

One of the ideas behind Borge’s Garden of the forking paths is that God allows people to choose. They are free to make their own decisions and forge their own path, but it is one’s path which defines their character. Decisions explain one’s motivation and determination to act on those decisions which by definition means character. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by J.K. Rowling, characters as Neville, Hermione, Professor Quirrell and Harry Potter defend the idea that people’s choices define their character.…

In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, the main theme is that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. This metaphor of not killing mockingbird is clearly portrayed throughout the course of this novel. This theme is so important to the plot of this novel that the author decided to entitle the book after this very metaphor. Mockingbirds are birds that do not do anything wrong and they just give us music. Atticus is the main character in the novel that really stressed why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds are just a simple metaphor for the characters in this book who are killed, such as Mr. Raymond and Tom Robinson.…

In Richmond Lattimore’s The Iliad of Homer, substance in one’s identity seems only attainable through seeking glory. Rather than substance, the name that they are given serves more as a title than a true summary of their character. Despite the myriad of “heroes”, The Iliad displays the worst traits of man in all including the heroes themselves as well as the venerable gods of Olympos. Even with these horrible traits, can their extraordinary accomplishments truly compensate and catapult them to hero status?…
