Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
The action packed Film “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” directed by Chris Columbus, exemplifies a hero’s journey through Percy Jackson being confronted with the task of bringing the thunderbolt to Zeus, saving his mother, and saving the world. From being a normal kid in high school to finding out that he’s a demigod, Percy faces many challenges that test his abilities as a hero.

In the ordinary world percy’s life consisted of going to school at a place called Yancy Academy with his friend named Grover, and the annoyance of his step dad who he hated. But in the midst of all that was ordinary in his life a secret changes it all to extraordinary. At a school trip Mrs.Dodds,

Even though Percy might not know how to defeat these challenges he has to in order to gain knowledge and get him closer to successes with saving his mother,getting back the thunderbolt, and the saving the world. Percy getting tested, meeting allies, and defeating enemies makes him become stronger in his abilities as a hero and helps him have a stronger understanding of what has to be done.

The innermost cave happens to be the underworld for Percy Jackson. This place is where people go after they die to live out their immortal lives. Here he has to confront Hades, the god of the underworld, in order to save his mother and to get back the thunderbolt that belongs to Zeus. He figures out a way even though his life and his mother’s life has to be put in jeopardy.

After confronting and defeating Hades Percy gets his mom back and was able to retrieve the thunderbolt. Even though Percy has overcome all of obstacles he still needs to bring back the thunder bolt to Zeus and try to prevent war with the gods. On Percy’s way back he comes across Luke, and so Luke tries to steal back the

For a hero to be a hero they all go through the same phases. As stated in The Hero’s Journey “ The manner in which individuals complete their tasks and succeed in their journeys largely influence their hero status” (Har Julie pg3) every hero may not be the same but they all go through the same process of being hero and Percy Jackson goes through that process.
