Unit 3 A1 Perception and social factors
The movie I choose was Freedom Writers. In this movie it talks about all different roles the one that sticks out is power where the teacher influences her students and teaches them in a way that they can understand and succeed in life and in school too. There are many different types of culture with the students on how they were raised and their backgrounds. The students all have a different story to tell about their lives how different they all are from one another, the whites, blacks, Mexicans, Asians. They are all in school together where a new teacher her first time teaching comes in thinking that these students know things and that they are educated but come to find out they are not some of the smarts of a 4th or even a 5th grader and they all have been in and out of trouble with the law. When they are all together in their class room there is a lot of stereotyping between all the of students because they think it’s a war to survive and that they graduate everyday that they make it alive. When all reality they are all the same they all have a had bad past and just wanting the respect to feel that are needed and appreciated. Like with the other teachers they don’t really care about these troubled students they think that they will all be gone and dead before they turn 18 and that it is a waste of time teaching them because they won’t listen and that they will do what they want to do anyways.
They soon have to get along with one another because of the teacher where she treats them with respects and cares about them to the point where goes above and beyond to help each one succeed so that they can graduate school and also just make it through life know that they accomplished something important and that they are important too.

Blue made sure to see that the students were receiving positive feedback. When each of the students entered the room, they retrieved their binders and all sat down quietly. Each of the students were very respectful to each other in that whenever someone raised their hand to speak, they were the only ones who spoke. Its stresses how privileged groups hold more power and have more advantages. It expressed that the social conditions of each group causes a struggle for power. The students in room 203 all hate each other because their gangs are rivals. The gangs are constantly fighting for the most power, that is why many of them kill one another.
