Pepsi Stereotypes
Pepsi born in North Carolina, which is very relevant in the ad, because the North Carolinas football’s team is Panthers, and they are doing a great job this season. The Panthers still undefeated 11-0 and are one of the favorites team to win the Super Bowl. In this ad, we can observe three people, two guys and a woman raising a Pepsi. They are wearing Panthers’ jerseys and obviously they look happy supporting their team. Pepsi is trying to not use stereotypes in this announcement but at the same time we can notice two men and one woman which shows us that there are more men who are interested in football than women. The good aspect of this ad is that it is multiracial; they are showing us that do not matter where we are from, we can be a Panthers

Coke and Pepsi have always been rival beverages for decades. I can remember my teens when most households would divide into two when it came to choosing their choice of drink, especially when going for grocery shopping. Even the advert aired by both brands shows a lot of rivalries between them. When one makes a new product, the other would do everything possible to make something similar or better than the former. Making people, both old and young believe their product is the best. When comparing the two beverages, there’s a major thing we normally notice from their commercials, while Coca-Cola Company uses families and animal in most of their commercial ads relating to peoples society, Pepsi Company uses different super stars and celebrities to sell their product worldwide. However, as coke uses their ethos in targeting both the old and young generation, Pepsi target mostly today’s youth in their adverts.…

The Pepsi commercial is about selling a soda, a coke, there's no real reason behind it. It begins insulting other cultures (as told by viewers on social media) by showing several racial stereotypes. Then, a white, famous, wealthy women, Kendell Jenner, comes out to stop a huge protest by giving the police officers a Pepsi. The SNL commercial makes fun of it, pointing out the ridiculesness of the commercial itself.…

The Pepsi-Cola story itself begins with a drugstore in New Bern, North Carolina, and a pharmacist named Caleb Bradham. Bradham's aim was to create a fountain drink that was both delicious and healthful in aiding digestion and boosting energy. Saturday Night Live thought it would be humorous to the public to point out the stereotypical and racist parts of the commercial. The SNL actor Beck Bennet plays the part of a director of the ad and he is blamed on the skit for being stereotypical and offensive. For example, in the commercial and the SNL skit you see two African American young men dancing hip hop and an Asian man playing the cello whilst a man talking on the phone with Bennet points out how they are common stereotypes and many would find the racist and offensive. The Saturday Night Live episode ties together with real life because although the Pepsi ad was not intended to offend anyone, many were offended and hurt by both the message and the content in the commercial.…

The Pepsi adverts can be seen as targeting a potentially narrow demographic. Most Pepsi adverts today consist of high profile football players advertising their brand. In theory Pepsi are narrowing their target market as football is a sport mainly enjoyed by men, although its female fan base is constantly growing. On the other hand, the use of football within their advertising makes Pepsi more appealing to a wider age range. This shows as the adverts starring David Beckham have been some of the most successful to date.…

For decades Pepsi has defined itself through the wizardry of the slogan, the jingle and the storyboard and all that a succession of four ad agencies has spun from them. One hundred years after New Bern, N.C., druggist Caleb Bradham called it Pepsi-Cola (actually, Caleb Cola would have had a nice ring and spared Mr. Bradham the necessity of buying out an existing trademark, Pep-Kola, for the princely sum of $100), this worldly and sophisticated company still succumbs to the temptation to see itself as the ``feisty newcomer'' struggling in the shadow of tradition and Americana cast by ``the competitor.'' (Martin, 1962)…

In the year 1999, $120 billion was spent on marketing products to consumers (Killing Us Softly 3). Along with products, the advertising industry sells the intangible: "Ads sell a great deal more than products. They sell values, images, and concepts of success of worth, love and sexuality, popularity, and normalcy. They tell us who we are and who we should be. Sometimes they sell addictions" (Kilbourne, Beauty and the Beast). When the average person is bombarded by 2,000-3,000 ads a day (Kilbourne, address), it is impossible to remain unaffected by the aforementioned concepts and stereotypes (Still Killing Us Softly, video). I think this advert is a funny advert and works well for Pepsi. The reason for this is because the coca cola driver looks like the instigator in this whilst the pepsi driver was minding his own business. This then makes the pepsi driver react and looks like the pepsi drink gives him the energy or fight to compete with the driver and he competes and makes the coke guy look stupid. It gives the…
