Jeremy Rifkin 's article, “A Change of Heart About Animals” argues that animals are more like humans than we imagine and as a result should be treated with the care that they deserve. Rifkin develops and supports his argument using facts about the animals and these facts end up touching hearts. In order for Rifkin to get his point across he uses a smart technique by using pathos and plays with the emotions of his audience. Rifkin loves animals and his passion and love evokes emotions that the audience can feel. Animals can feel and have emotions similar to ours. in agreement with Rifkin, I argue that it is wrong and inhumane to kill or abuse animals because they feel, they deserve to have space and should be valued as much as humans are It is wrong no animal should be killed due to abuse or testing, it is wrong and inhumane.…

My mind was a blank canvas that was painted to see “a piece of rope, made [into] a noose, slipped [around a] kitten’s neck, [as it is was] pulled [...] over a nail, [jerking] the animal clear of the ground” (11). Paintings of the poor creature gasping and “[clawing] the air frantically” (11) multiplied in my head as Richard stated “that kitten [couldn’t] even breathe” (11) implying that he ended an innocent’s kitten’s life to threaten his father’s authority. Seeing how Richard was younger than 6 at this point, being the cause of an animal’s life by means of showing criticism towards his father, stood out to me as an early sign of defying authority as well as mental instability. Research conducted in the 1970’s concluded that “childhood cruelty to animals [was] the first warning sign of later delinquency, violence, and criminal behavior” even though he committed such an act as a form of imitation (psychologytoday.com). To put it in simple and concise words, this act set off a red flag in my head. Down the line, Richard got into an argument with his aunt. Refusing to get beaten for something he did not do, Richard “grabbed [...] a knife and held it ready for her” (108). Defending himself not only from his aunt, but his Uncle Tom as well, Richard found himself with “a razor in each hand” (159). The images of him grasping onto knives and razors,…

I am so sick of hearing cases on the news, like "Man from Atlanta is facing penalties in Georgia in which a puppy was cooked in an oven" or "Brothers in Atlanta are being charged for putting a puppy in a gas range and turning the gas on." Animal cruelty is one of the most common types of violence in the United States. It is not as accustomed to hear such heartbreaking cases as these. Some of the most common forms of animal cruelty are: Animal testing and experimentation in laboratories, lack of owners care and attention, and using animals as a way of entertainment. Now, lets take a closer look at these three forms of animal cruelty.…

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing”-Albert Einstein. Abuse towards animals occurs when humans cause harm to animals intentionally or unintentionally. Animal Cruelty during the Victorian Era is similar to the present day because people beat animals as punishment. However in the present day more people are hoarding animals as a result of being emotionally troubled rather than having a criminal motive, and people have started to stand up against abusive behavior towards animals.…

Serial killers exhibit three behaviors in early childhood that experts refer to as the McDonald Triad: bed-wetting, arson, and cruelty to animals. They are most likely to come from broken homes and have experienced great dysfunction within the family unit including abuse and neglect. These children may be very shy and introverted and yet others may be gregarious and outgoing when they really feel isolated (Freeman, 2)…

Animal cruelty can be anywhere and done by anyone. Many people think of animals, especially cats and dogs, as disposable. They get a puppy for the children for Christmas only to realize it is a lot of work that the children are not ready for. They forget to feed and water it, don 't take it for walks, and don 't take it outside to use the bathroom. The solution, abandon it or just take it to the humane society. They 'll get another when the kids are older. An animal that is used to being taken care of by humans cannot fend for itself when it is dumped. It slowly starves or gets attacked by other animals. Many people will shoot stray animals with bbs to chase them away from their property. The animal becomes hurt or aggressive…
