Pediatric Oncology Personal Statement
As I have gotten older my goals have shifted to and from many professions that have caught my interests. The recurring theme was always children and my ability to help them. I gave serious thought to pursuing a teaching position, or a few different types of attorney that would put me in the position to help children making questionable decisions, or becoming doctor. I realized my dream of becoming a pediatric oncologist a few years ago when I became interested in oncology and then realized I could combine two of my passions, children and cancer. While I am aware that pediatric oncology is a tough, demanding profession I want to be a part of it because of the opportunity it presents to make a difference and help people. It seems especially rewarding …show more content…
Parents who lose their children experience one of the worst things imaginable and children losing their lives to cancer is yet another. Not only are children the future, the hopes and dreams of our entire planet, but they have yet to fully experience life or even experience most of it. Children should have the opportunity to have fun and live, not to be sick and in a hospital. Children not being able to grow up, learn, love, make friends, start families, and just experience life is a tragic event that I want to dedicate my life to …show more content…

I want to be able to offer my great knowledge and experiences, to one day improve the lives of so many little ones. I have loved working with children from a very young age, ever since I had to technically help my parents with raising my own siblings. And I have had the privilege to currently be employed in a daycare where I am able to work with kids, and observe them in there most natural state. I even find it funny when I catch my self observing these toddlers and preschooler’s speech when they are having a regular conversation; as I try to listen for any misarticulated sounds. Now it has become a natural instinct of mine when I am around…

Since I was a little girl, I always have had a fascination in the dental field. I was one of those rare people, who throughout my life always enjoyed going to the dentist. I was enrolled in Palomar Dental School and was scheduled to start the dental assisting program, but God had another plan. It was later that year that I finally conceived, after trying for 13 years. Because I wanted to stay home and raise my son, I could not attend school on a full-time basis. I feltl that completing my degree in the health care management field, I will be able to get my foot in the door and someday work in a dental office. I would also love to work in the pediatric field. Whether it be in the dental field of pediatrics, or in a hospital, I think working with children would be a very rewarding job. As a mother of two, I can relate to the anxiety of parents taking their children in for dental work, or healthcare, and I think it would be nice to put the parents and children at ease with my concern.…

I want to go into the pediatric nursing field for many reasons. I really enjoy working with kids especially little children. Volunteering at a saturday school with 4-5 year olds I became very good and comforting a child when sad or lonely. I work well with little children and enjoy being with them. I also want to go into nursing because every time I go to the doctors I always feel as if the nurses there do not enjoy their job. Which is probably wrong but they just always seem so monotone. I am half japanese so every summer when I go over to Japan and need to go to the doctors, the nurses there are always smiling trying to ease the tension between the child and the nurse themselves and that is the kind of nurse I want to be. I want to be a nurse like that in America to show people how much of a difference it could make and could lead to less fear of the doctors office. I see…

I currently work at a daycare as a Pre-school teacher, and have recently discovered that I love working with children. Children are very optimistic, and working with them is such an interesting job. You want to be able to educate and work with the family to make sure the child or children are being raised in the best possible healthy lifestyle that is available. You have to learn how to be compassionate but not get too attached to every child that comes into the pediatrician’s office. With the opportunity of working as a Pediatric Nurse, I would love to work in a privately owned pediatric office, or another option I would consider would be working in the pediatric wing at a…
