Introduction:
The leadership skills and requirements are essential to become a successful manager also. Therefore all these important skills have to be developed and improved continuously, according to the needs. The qualities of a leader are in born to some extent. But we have to constantly develop those characters to be a successful strategic manager. This is very important in the business world now days, because the world is getting more and more competitive. First of all we have to find out the qualities in the leaders and then develop it accordingly. Therefore professional development is essential .it is not a new concept. It should be followed strictly by the leaders in organizations, in order to be successful in their field.

Leaders play a key role in every organization. Collins explains five levels of leadership * Highly capable individual * Contributing member * Component manager * Effective leader * Executive (Pedler, A managers 's guide to self development, 2007)
