Pay Check Reflection
My whole life I remember my parents living pay check to pay check barely making bills, and always telling us we could have what we wanted, because we didn't have money. Living in a different apartment every year, because rent was getting risen again. I moved from school to school, and felt like I never lived in a stable home. I was never afraid of change, and feel like my parents did their best to do all that they could to make sure we had a roof over our head and food on the table. As a child I felt like life was pretty tough, and my parents were mean.

As a parent, I see myself doing and saying the same things to my children my parents said to me, and only being able to pay my bills, and nothing else. I always said things would be different

Being able to speak freely about my faith, while getting a degree is an amazing feeling. I do have two more children, but do also have help raising them. I know that things will be tough, and my time will be spread thin, as well as sleep will be cut short, but in the long run, this will be more than worth it, because I will break all those generational curses, and be able to give m children more that I ever dreamed.

My drive for being here at CCU is my children, and husband, and my strength is from my Jesus. I know that he will give me all the strength, and knowledge that I need to make it though this, to be successful like he wants me to be. By following my dreams and Gods calling. I pray that me going back to school shows my kids to never give up, and to never settle, as God wants more for

The first few years of my life were spent alone. My birth father left when I was born and my birth mother would leave me home alone for days on end. I remember when I was two, waking up and not finding anyone in the house, I was hungry and scared. I would climb on to the counters to find something to eat, which a lot of times was nothing. I would have to do everything for myself, but soon that would change. The last time my birth mother left me, i was sent to my Grandparents. My Grandpa was sick and they didn’t have a lot of money. My Grandma started calling friends and relatives but no one wanted to take me. She was losing hope, but there was one last couple she could try. She called my parents and they took me instantly. Ever since then I’ve been happy, healthy and loved. I couldn’t ask for better parents…

Going back forty-five years is not an easy task to complete because I can't remember some of the finer details of my childhood. I know I was born on a hot August afternoon in Birth Year at Place Of Birth in City ands State. My mother was just twenty-two at the time and was already the mother of two, I was her third child. My father was twenty-one and already a workaholic, I know because my mother would constantly remind me not to be like that. My mother and father were good parents and they tried to give us the best upbringing they could. My father was the kind of person that believed he should provide and protect his family, and he did a very good job of doing that.…

And since my parents never showed even the slightest signs of weakness, fatigue, or dejection, I grew up under the warmth of their radiant, loving smiles. However, looking back, I took a lot for granted, mistakenly believing that everything they did for me was merely expected. Similarly, I regret all those stubborn and meaningless arguments I’d have with them over the minute details. At these moments, I did not recognize how grateful and fortunate I actually was to have such devoted, loving parents.…

My life begin when I was a mere 2 years of age when my parents adopted my twin sister and myself. My parents were on the older side, so their beliefs were conservative and strict, even from the beginning. Since my sister and I had been out of many foster homes until my parents adopted us, it was important that we had structure. There was always plenty of love and stability that I received and that is so important in the development in the early years. My parents were involved in every aspect of my childhood and that resulted in a sheltered and protective environment. It was hard to develop autonomy as a child and my own personality but my parents played such an important role in my development. I have developed such strong morals as an adult and that is attributed to my parents' role.…

Understanding that college is a time of both personal and educational growth, I positively anticipate many things. As an undergrad, I will join organizations and activities while participating actively in them. For academic and language enrichment, I aspire to travel to a Latin American country to study abroad. Also, I aim to be successful in my studies while balancing them with a part-time job. As a result of my hardwork and progression, I desire to obtain an internship as I network with area professionals. Besides focusing on my education, I look forward to finding my purpose. That being said, I am a firm believer that everyone is on this Earth to serve a purpose. As I nurture my skillset and zero in on my interests I look forward to discovering what position within business I am here to serve in. Ultimately, I am excited utilize the next four years of my life to have experiences that I will look back on in 30 years and be proud of having…

When some people look back on their childhood they see happy times full of family memories, traditions, love, and encouragement. When I look back on my childhood I remember drug abuse, visiting my step father in jail, going without utilities, and playing the role of a mother at the age of eight. I knew I was different from other children. I knew that my parents depended on me to play the role of an adult. They depended on me to get up every morning and get my brother and sister on the school bus. I knew they depended on me to go straight home from school every day so I could babysit. I would wake my mom up for work so she could work two jobs to support us and then I would cook dinner. Homework, friends, and things I wanted came last and I knew I didn’t have a choice. Indeed, my family was, and is, dysfunctional.…
