The poem does not discuss Revere’s friend that asks him to go to Lexington; it simply states that he will wait for a signal. “He said to his friend, ‘If the British march By land or sea from the tower to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch,’” (Longfellow 6). Revere has two of his friends help him across the Charles River to arrive at the shore. “Two friends rowed me across Charles River, a little to the eastward where the Somerset Man of War lay,” (Gilder Lehrman 1). The poem does not recognize Revere’s friends who help him to alert the town of the British. “I likewise mentioned, that we had better allarm all the inhabitants till we got to Concord,” (Gilder Lehrman 3). As was previously stated, the poem gives no credit to Revere’s friends who helped on his famous ride.…

If you were to ask anyone who were the first men on the moon. Most People would Answer Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, but if you were to ask who was the third man on the Apollo 11 mission most people would have no clue. The third member of the Apollo mission is Michael Collins. Michael Collins is over shadowed by the other two astronauts. Michael Collins was an important member of the Apollo mission but he does not get any credit. The same case goes for Samuel Prescott. He was the only one of the Three Riders who made it to Concord and he gets no Credit. Paul Revere over shadowed Prescott. Prescott is the most important member of the Midnight ride. Prescott did a lot for our country in that one night. Samuel Prescott should be remembered as a hero for his actions, and had a major effect on the defense against the British during the Revolution.…

Revere’s most famous act though, was his Midnight Ride during the Revolution. On April 18, 1775, Paul Revere was given the assignment to ride from Boston to Lexington to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams of the British Regulars on the way to confiscate the militia’s armaments and arrest Hancock and Adams. Lanterns were hung in an old church bell tower to signal to colonists in Charlestown in case both Revere and his companion, William Dawes, were captured: One lantern if by land and two lanterns if the British took the water route. On his ride to Lexington, Revere told patriots along the way, “The Regulars are coming out.” to warn them of the coming British. Revere’s assignment was later depicted in the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Paul Revere’s Ride. Paul Revere should be entered into the History Hall of Fame for his devout patriotism, mastery of silver craftsmanship, and influential roles in the Revolutionary…

I am home, staying safe and I am so nervous for my husband. I know he can do it, but I am so scared for his army. His army only has 20,000 troops and the British had over 30,000 mercenaries. I was worried sick. Elizabeth cared so hard for the sick, and dead and sometimes served in combat. I knew George was nervous, he didn't have a standing army and the British did. Our army was on a shortage of gunpowder, clothing, and food, I so badly wanted to risk my life to give them what they need, so I can help them win the war. Even though our army was on a shortage it was much quicker for us to get our supplies because we’re close to home. The British supplies would take months to come because they were far from…
