Patient Satisfaction Survey Paper
During this phase, the committee started looking at the old pattern on getting patients satisfaction, saw that staffs were not motivated, some staff were not sure what the patient satisfaction survey was located in their unit, some leaders did not encourage the use of survey as a mean for patient satisfaction. The committee also realized that the hospital goal patient communication system though standardized was not implemented effectively in all units. There was very few educational programs for nurses on communication, and hourly rounding.

    Opinions of the staff should be valued, therefore healthcare providers should also play an active role in the decision making process. This can be accomplished by establishing a Unit Practice Council which would facilitate communication between staff and management. Monthly meetings should be held to address and resolve issues in a timely manner.     Nurses only understand the skills they were taught on their first time working as a nurse and develop their skill as they gain experience. The new method of bedside reports included in a nurse’s work caused them to adapt into a new skill. In the bedside shift change reports, some nurses preferred the new method, while other preferred their previous functions in the hospital (Johnson & Cowin, 2012, p. 123). The implications for nursing management explained that “formal training in communication may be advantageous when introducing changes to clinical handover” (Johnson & Cowin, 2012, p. 127). Based on the nurses, they believed that the tools on communications was beneficial (Johnson & Cowin, 2012, p. 127). The findings involved affect a nurse’s way of thinking, since they are not used to the new skill of bedside reports.     Across the healthcare system there are universal themes that can be applied to several fields of medicine, such as ambition to make a difference, maintaining effective communication, and overcoming obstacles that one encounters throughout his/her career. Six University of West Florida students procured six individual healthcare providers and performed semi-structured interviews with the professionals in order to gain insight into the patient-provider relationship. Five of us interviewed providers in the field of nursing, while one us interviewed a provider in the field of pharmacology. Within the domain of Nursing, our professionals included: a lead RN in the field of cardiovascular/thoracic surgery, a RN that works in the oncology department, a trauma RN who works in the emergency room, a RN who specializes in labor and delivery, a RN midwife, and a pharmacist. While both the midwife and pharmacist practice privately, all the RNs interviewed practice in a hospital setting.
