The quality of health care remains an ongoing concern for consumers, payers, and policy makers. There are a number of national initiatives to measure quality and drive improvements in care. One initiative that has received significant attention is an effort by a group of purchasers known as the Leapfrog Group. (Sultz and Young) Founded in 2000, the Leapfrog coalition includes more than 65 employers and agencies that together purchase care for more than 34 million people. The Leapfrog Group has focused on measuring and reporting hospitals’ adoption of evidence based practices to improve patient safety. Through annual surveys, the program measures whether hospitals have adopted these practices and make the data publicly available on the Leapfrog Group Web site (http://www.leapfroggroup.org). One goal of the program is to direct consumers to hospitals that have adopted Leapfrog’s patient safety practices. Overall, I think it is useful for the public to have this information available. During this phase, the committee started looking at the old pattern on getting patients satisfaction, saw that staffs were not motivated, some staff were not sure what the patient satisfaction survey was located in their unit, some leaders did not encourage the use of survey as a mean for patient satisfaction. The committee also realized that the hospital goal patient communication system though standardized was not implemented effectively in all units. Analysis of data: The statistical method used, was appropriate, because it included the fact that certain extraneous variables were first eliminated. Not eliminating those variables or not grouping those variables may have rendered the study invalid and skewed the data presented. This shows a direct relationship to satisfaction in the workplace, and the use of the data to decrease that dissatisfaction and improve on patient care outcome. The data suggested that nurses and other healthcare workers must strive in a collaborative environment; that to strengthen the work force, there must be less incivility in the work place. Within the strategy step, a plan is developed to ensure that the state of the workforce remains in good standing. Within the planning step, an approach is created that will develop away to fill the current workforce community. The evaluation step, the effectiveness of the plan will be measured. Because at least 10% of the workforce will turnover, it is imperative that we have these steps in place. High turnover rates can have a significant impact on patient satisfaction, strong teams and quality of care. There is a correlation between nurse satisfaction and patient satisfaction. The environment created can have negative effects on employees. Due to this sometime the attitude that the employee has is evident in their work. If a patient’s can sense the level of dissatisfaction they may also feel as if they are not receiving the best possible care. High turnover rates can also effect the morale of other employees.
