Participation Trophies In Sports Essay
Are participation trophies effecting young athletes? According to the Trophies For All policy, young athletes are being given an award for participating. Will this affect young athletes in a bad way or a good way? Simply giving out an award for showing up is a tantamount of child abuse. Receiving participation trophies can effect the young athlete's future in a bad result. There are some good results ,but there are a lot of bad results as well. This can hurt ,not just the athletes ,but the programs as well.

Are participation trophies effecting young athletes? According to the "Trophies For All" policy, young athletes are receiving an award for participating. Some people say that ,"They don't see anything wrong with awarding young athletes

Youth athletes often become less interested in their sport if every one receives the same participation trophy for working hard ,or just showing up. If everyone gets a participation trophy, the trophy will loose its meaning and be less valuable to young athletes. The athlete will think it just something else and maybe use as a door stopper.

Money shouldn't be wasted on these participation trophies. If young athletes think it is worthless, they might throw it out. Athletes don't know how much money they are tossing out. The amount of money used for the trophies are around millions of dollars. Sport programs could use that money to help sick people or give out food for the homeless. Some sport programs even go bankrupt and broke trying to give out trophies. Use the money for something more important.

Some people claim that it is worth a few bucks to put a smile on someone's face. However, their money can a lot of other emotions too. Some people can get this trophy and say ,"why did I try so hard to get a trophy everyone else gets for standing there ,and doing nothing?" That is someone that is mad. Depression can be caused by the trophies ,for participating in the same sport over and over again. Trophies can make young athletes worry about if everyone gets a trophy," what is the point of trying my best?"Giving trophies can be harmful to the young athletes out there and the programs.
