The use of camera angles between characters in heated moments throughout the film shows us the importance of family and relationships and how at times things can get tough but in the long run it is better to stay and fight together than to fight alone. An example of this is after a fight with Charlie, and as Thomas is sitting outside Jackie’s house the Camera blurs the background and is a close up shot as it focuses on the couple, which emphasizes the importance of the conversation at hand. Another scene that captures the similarities between disabled and able bodied people is the scene where Charlie and Thomas are sharing a bath, this is one of the most light-hearted and warming scenes and it adds a sense of Thomas’s inner autism. The scene competently captures Thomas’s acceptance that normalcy is not the key to a happy life and that Charlie is not merely a “spastic” but is a human being that should be treated how he wants to be…

The most memorable moments in television and film history are marked by their ability to remain in the hearts and minds of society. These pieces of entertainment are generally known as the classics, for possessing some factor that appeals to the world. Often times, the classics can be easily distinguished by society's eternal use of quotes taken from film. Certain films have a phrase, a couple of words, that instantly triggers the memory of anyone who hears them. From Scarface's "Say hello to me little friends!", Dirty Harry's "you feeling lucky punk?", and even Spiderman's "With great power, comes great responsibility". To further demonstrate the effect that a single quote can have in keeping the memory of a film alive, a two word phrase can be instantly connected to the classic film. "Great Scott!" from Back to the Future, are words which when heard by most will relate them to the well known film and the actors which made it a classic. The quotes of these historic films are the tools by which society relives their greatness, but it is the actors/actresses which allow for those strong feeling to form. In the case of Back to the Future, the actor that instantly comes to find and represents the film is Michael J. Fox.…

Finally a scene in which the focus is on Lily’s parents I found particularly effectively, and they are having a heated argument. The language barrier and expression through tone of voice, body language and much stressed facial expression creates a tense atmosphere which grips the audience. This is then interrupted by the entry first of the puppet of baby Lily grabbing onto her father’s leg, proceeded by Lily herself, and this moment really allows the audience to empathise with her and shows how she has been affected since childhood by her parents relationship and still as an…

…….asked us to create a stylised performance using the narrator’s text; DNA by Dennis Kelly. We, had to use still images, mime and movement and a section from to play to be delivered in response to Stanislavski. We stayed our performance by having …… and …. as the two naturalistic performers, sitting side by side on the floor, quite far apart from each other to show the audience the lack of closeness between…. and …. Leah being the main narrator, sat up on her knees, inviting the audience in to listen and seemed more comforting and engaged, whereas Phil communicated with the audience with the lack of focus and response, showing have far away Phil really is to understanding Leah’s thoughts and feelings. The actors facial features were kept very minimal, neural expressions which showed no emotion allowing the other two character to really communicate and show the audience what they really think and feel. We did this to support our interpretation of the characters and what we got from the play which was that Leah had deep feelings for Phil, which he took for granted. I played Leah’s conscience, alongside….., who played Phil’s. I and …..walked up to each other hesitantly, showing the lack of communication between the characters as their unsure of their relationship. We help our hands out towards each other after we had separated to communicate through the use of gesture, to the audience that we do truly need each other, we just can’t show it. This was my idea, and I think it was successful because I really wanted to show to the audience the true feelings of the two characters and I think this was a good moment to communicate with the audience. I contrasted with …. tone of voice, as she uses a soft yet pleading tone, I respond to it with an aggressive tug of Sam’s arm, silently beginning him to respond. Leah’s self-conscious, in coherent character and Phil’s stubborn blindness, stops them communicating, and I believe this is why their relationship is so strained and…

Throughout the film, close-up shots of different character’s faces are shown as they pose a sympathetic or angry expression when they encounter the Mollison’s family. This is shown when Charlie has a tantrum at the supermarket, and the people’s face expressions are those of interest and amusement. The effect of these film shots is that it allows the responder to develop their own judgment for each character and allows them to get more involved or personal as they understand…

There was an establishing shot of an apartment building that actually helped me understand where they where before everything happened instead of having to guess. This scene also consisted of all eye level shots which was perfect for the dialogue between the two characters. Even the ambiance of Jennifer’s room was so beautiful she had lavender colored walls, royal comforter set, and an evenly lit lighting in the room that brought a very soothing sense to the scene. Also the audio which included laughter from an audience background was kind of annoying. There were times when it would get too loud to the point to where I would miss something the character said.…
