It is great Pleasure for me to present this report, which is made as an assignment of Business communication course. I would Like to thanks my coordinator Sir Saifuddin Kamran who gave me this opportunity, My research work is made on the topic of “study of the departments of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation”. During this assignment I have gained knowledge about the structure of PIA and their departments. .

I extend my great thanks and Deep Appreciation to my brother Naveed Rajput (Finance Manager PIA) This report will remain incomplete if I do not mention the efforts and special attention of some respected persons, whose attitude and affection encourage me to make my report on PIAC.

Finally, I want to thank you, the readers, for investing time for reading this report. As twenty first century is pacing ahead with the new approaches and technologies, this report will help for the evaluation of the organization of PIA according to the new requirements and emerging technologies.

The report comprises of general overview about PIA, its history, distinct characteristics, its operations and departments. Later on, there is complete information about domestic and international destinations. And a complete information about growth of PIA. Then its breakeven and profitability analysis

It provides an excellent learning experience regarding different phases of getting higher into the skies and rising of an airline. And its interpretation under different circumstances. And it also tells about the achievements of PIA.


Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the only state-owned airline of Pakistan, based in Karachi. It operates at about 46 international destinations and 24 destinations through out Pakistan. The ownership break down is visible from this pie chart as under resting 90% ownership with govt. of Pakistan and rest is issued to general public.

PIA employees nearly 18500 employees worldwide. It has a fleet size of around 42 planes (as of December 2007) comprising of some of world’s largest aircrafts of Boeing and Airbus and small sized Fokkers as well.



Pakistan International Airlines (also known as PIA), is the national flag carrier of Pakistan and the National airline of the country operating passenger and cargo services around the world.
