Paid Up Member Conflict
The conflict in the story "paid up member" written by Will R.Bird is between two men, Simon Lasher and Jim Dickie. The issue is Jim had taken what was rightfully Simons. As can be explained in the text the narrator states, "Jim Dickie had asked for trouble he had come into the settlement and bought the farm that Simon was on the point of buying." This conflict was resolved when Simon killed Jim because as a result, neither of the two got the farm. This is can be shown in the text when Jim Dickie's body was found dead and Simon was arrested for the murder of Jim. This conflict helped develop the theme because of obvious reasons. The theme in the story can be seen as "what goes around comes around" also known as "Karma" and for one Jim took Simons
