What are the factors that lead to evolutionary change? Using mathematical equations, Hardy & Weinberg in the early 20th century showed that evolutionary change – measured as changes in allele frequencies in a population from one generation to the next – will not occur unless certain kinds of “evolutionary agents” are affecting the population. The Hardy-Weinberg equation can be used to describe the allele frequencies in populations that are not changing evolutionarily – and also can be used to determine if populations are changing over time.…

When given two equations the goal is to make the equations equivalent to one another. These two equations are equivalent. Two equations are known to be equivalent if they have the same solution set. A solution set is a set of numbers that that solve an algebraic equation. In the first equation, the solution set is {5}. In the second solution set both sides of the equation must be equal. Equal means that both sides are balanced. The equality of addition property states that each side of the equal sign must have the exact same numerical value. On both sides, we have a which is the same “number” or “letter”. Since 5 is on one of the sides 5 must be on the other side due to the equality of addition property. That makes x {5}. Finally, because both of their solution sets are {5}, we know that the two equations are equivalent because they have the same solution set.…

While many view the Scope’s Trial as merely a debate between creationists and evolutionists, it is far more complex than that. It has helped to reinforce stereotypes of both sides, shape how man is viewed, and led to a number of alterations in social and educational spheres. After the Butler Act was passed, the UCLA attempted to recruit teachers to take it to court in the hopes they would finally get their big break. A few citizens in Dayton Tennessee saw an advertisement in a newspaper and decided it would be a good way to gain some publicity for the small town. They asked all of the local Biology teachers, but could not find anyone willing to go to court. Then, they found John Scopes. John Scopes was a football coach who taught general science, who just happened to have filled in for a biology teacher for two weeks. They were able to convince him to go to court, and thus Dayton was put on the map.…

Therefore, the Doctrine prevented the colonizing of Latin American lands, regardless of who was colonizing the land. The Doctrine made it clear that if someone were to colonize this forbidden land, the United States would respond with violence.…
