The possible demographic target for McDonald’s is basically the entire population, although it seems that they aim mostly for children, high school and college students, parents, and the underclass all the way to the upper middle class. Previously they targeted individuals who were not health conscious. Now that they have made some changes to their menu, it appears that McDonald’s is now targeting those who are health conscious as well.…

In areas more remote, it can also be the only option. Furthermore, the shops are very heavy on birthday parties and even use the Ronald McDonald clown and cartoons to gain more followers. The introduction of the happy meal was also partly to blame, as the children’s toys became a huge and important factor for the kids’ meal. McDonald’s are also using the theory, that if the children visit with their parents they will have good associations with the brand when they grow up. Therefore, without noticing they will continue to frequent the shops as…

Despite that, parents are concern with McDonald’s’ marketing strategy as their little ones are heavily involved in it. That is because McDonald’s marketing strategy is to attract children to eat in their restaurant. There are many ways in how McDonald’s does it.One of them is through the inclusion of the happy meal which is a miniature versions of their normal meals just for children. But what really attracts children is the free toys that is accompanied with the meal. Varying from Strawberry Shortcake toys all the way to Hotwheels, McDonald’s have been employing this tactic of giving away free toys just so that children would choose to eat at McDonalds’. A concerned parent has also taken McDonald’s to court over McDonald’s strategy of giving away free toys. Mrs Monet Parham is suing McDonald’s of “getting into her child’s mind without her permission”. She felt that her daughter, Maya Parham, is going to McDonald’s and buy the happy meal just for the sake of getting the free…

SUMMARY: McDonald's is losing its luster with younger consumers. Customers in their 20s and 30s are defecting to competitors, in particular so-called fast-casual restaurants like Chipotle Mexican Grill and gourmet-burger chain Five Guys. Younger diners are seeking out fresher, healthier food and chains that offer customizable menu options for little more than the price of a combo meal.…

    McDonalds Strategy

According to the McDonalds 2010 annual report, the company continues to remain in a good position for success because McDonalds applies the “plan to win” strategy (McDonalds, 2010-2014). The concept behind the “plan to win” strategy is not for McDonalds to be the biggest fast food chain but for the company to be the best fast food chain (McDonalds, 2010-2014). The plan to win strategy focuses on the core drivers of the business. The strategy utilizes the five P’s, which are price, people, promotion, place, and product (McDonalds, 2010-2014). This approach helps the company to focus on the right priorities to keep their brand relevant and meet the evolving needs of their customers. The “Plan to Win” strategy is combined with the company’s competitive advantages of convenience, menu variety, geographic diversification, and system alignment, which drives long-term sustainable growth (McDonalds, 2010-2014). The strategy has served McDonalds very well over the last eight years and the company will continue to utilize the “Plan to Win” (McDonalds, 2010-2014). In 2010, McDonalds in the United States had a 3.8 percent in their sales, compared to prior years, which had a lower sales percentage (McDonalds, 2010-2014). The McDonalds operating income increased to $7.5 billion in 2010 compare to the $6.8 billion in 2009 (McDonalds, 2010-2014).…

McDonald's opened the first restaurant in Singapore at Liat Towers on Orchard road in October 1979. Its aim is to offer friendly fast food in a fun environment for everyone to enjoy. Its target markets are families, because children want to visit McDonald’s as it is a fun place to eat, working people who are looking for a quick meal because of their busy schedules, and teenagers who are looking for the value for money menus and free internet access available in some restaurants.
